Congratulations to our very own Donna Rusaw!

Last week, Donna was honoured with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Cobourg Rotary Club, one of Rotary's highest recognitions, presented to individuals who make an extraordinary difference in their communities through service, leadership, and compassion.

Many in our community know Donna as the Food Service Coordinator at Ed's House, through Meals on Wheels at Community Care Northumberland, or through her business, Black Dress Catering.

If you've ever met Donna, you know this recognition couldn't be more deserved.

Whether it was preparing emergency meals at the Keeler Centre during the snowstorm of 2022, stepping in to support residents displaced by the Colborne apartment fire this past January, or quietly helping families through difficult times with meals and comfort, she is always ready to lend a hand.

Please join us in congratulating Donna on this well-deserved honour and thanking her for everything she does for Community Care Northumberland, Ed's House, and the countless people whose lives she touches.

Our residents will be enjoying some delicious organic bagels from Headwaters Farm, thanks to Tony for dropping them off for us!

Another wonderful reminder of how generous our community is, we are always grateful when our local business think of us when they want to donate!

Before and After! 💐

Thank you to the great work of volunteers from Northumberland United Way's Day of Caring. We are so excited to unveil our new cut flower station at Ed's House Hospice, courtesy of these amazing volunteers!

Day of Caring brings together teams from organizations, local businesses, clubs, families and individuals to support the community through many different projects, both small and large.

Our project this year was a cut flower station for residents and their families to use to help brighten their days. This station will make it easier to get beautiful blooms from our backyard garden into the residents' rooms here at Ed's House.

Loving, Enjoyable and Caring 🌟

These are just a few of the words that describe the incredible Personal Support Workers at Ed’s House Hospice.

On National PSW Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the heart, compassion, and dedication our PSWs bring each and every day. Whether they are comforting residents, supporting families through difficult moments, or working alongside our nursing team, their care leaves a lasting impact on everyone who walks through our doors.

PSWs do so much more than provide support — they offer kindness, dignity, reassurance, and companionship when it is needed most. Their gentle presence and unwavering compassion help make Ed’s House feel like home.

To all of our PSWs: thank you for the care you give, the comfort you provide, and the difference you make every single day. We are endlessly grateful for you today and always.

Nursing is more than clinical care — it’s compassion, connection, and humanity at the heart of healthcare. 💝

Every day at Ed's Hospice, our nurses bring comfort, dignity, and support to residents and families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Their care goes beyond medicine, creating meaningful connections that leave a lasting impact.

This National Nursing Week, we are grateful for the heart our nurses bring to their work each and every day.

Nurses. Are. Brave.

As we celebrate National Nursing Week, we’re reminded of the incredible care, compassion, and strength our nurses bring to Ed's Hospice every single day.

Their work is not easy, but through every challenge and every meaningful moment, they continue to support one another, show up for our residents and families, and give so much of themselves in the process.

Today, and every day, we are deeply grateful to have such an incredible team. 🙏
