EXECUTIVE

Selwyn Jordan, President and Secretary
Selwyn Jordan is originally from Hamilton but has lived in Chatham for the last 13 years. He graduated with a Honours Computer Science Degree and played football (outside and middle LB) at McMaster University from 1989 – 1993 where he was a captain for 3 of the 4 years, McMaster Defensive and Team MVP, an OUA all-star, attended the CFL Evaluation

Camp, and was invited to the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats rookie camps. He has coached high school football in Chatham for 12 years (CCI and McGregor), but has been involved in coaching for over 20 football seasons because in Chatham, senior football is in the fall and junior football in the spring. Sel has coached with the University of Windsor football program in 2003 (when they beat Western to get to the OUA semi-finals) as a video breakdown coach where he was involved with breaking down video of the upcoming opponents. With his computer programming background he was able to create a video-breakdown program that gives reporting and video analysis on an opponents football game. Selwyn coached 2 seasons in the OVFL for the Essex Ravens as a LB coach and provided the Essex program with his video breakdown analysis. For 2 years he has been assisting the St. Francis Xavier (StFX) University with their video-breakdown service where he post stats, opponent tendencies and key video clips on the internet for coaching staff and players to review before every game. In January 2006, Selwyn formed the Chatham-Kent Cougars Football Club which provides youth the opportunity to play football prior to high school. The club runs 3 football fundamental clinical sessions, P*ewee Minor football, OVFL travel football and new this year will be a Cheerleading squad and Atom Minor football. Also, the Cougars Football Club merged with Chatham Flag football which run 2 Flag Football leagues for grades 4 to grade 8. Sel is married to his wife (Jane) with two young children. Jeff Green, Vice-President of Flag and Minor Football
Jeff Green was born and raised in Chatham-Kent. Here he played 3 years of high school football for Chatham Collegiate Institute and was fortunate to be part of 3 winning seasons and 3 Championship Teams. Jeff graduated from University of Windsor in 1986 with an Honors Degree in Human Kinetics and returned to U of W in 1991 to obtain his Teaching Certificate. He played 5 years of University Football from 1982 to 1986 as a receiver and punter. In the 1983 season, he was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Year. He is presently teaching Physical Education and Science at the Chatham Kent Secondary School. Here he is the Head Coach for both Senior and Junior Football Teams. He has coached 44 contact football seasons since the age of 20. Jeff’s high school coaching dates back 23 years. He has coached at Clark Road High School and Oakridge High School in London, Blenheim District High School, Wallaceburg District High School, Chatham Collegiate Institute and Chatham Kent Secondary School. He has coached at the Ontario Junior Football Conference Level with the London Beefeaters for 4 years as Special Teams Co-coordinator and Offensive Assistant. Green has been involved in coaching 4 Team Canada squads, which have played in Scotland, England, Ireland and Finland. Green is also affiliated with the University of Windsor’s Touchdown Club, which is devoted to developing U of W Football Program through fund raising and alumni support. Green has always felt that the development of grass root programs is essential to the success of Chatham-Kent football. Jeff feels the discipline, dedication, and developmental part of physical fitness and teamwork are key element to developing well-rounded citizens. He feels these are all benefits of football related activities. Green developed the Chatham Flag Football League in 2004 and continues to run the Kent County Football Clinic using these philosophies. These programs and others are being initiated by the Chatham-Kent Cougars Football Club and will continue to expand these wonderful opportunities. This would never be possible without the support of his family, wife Ellen and football fans Clark and Madie. DIRECTORS

Doug Ball, Director of Coaching Development and of Player Development
Doug Ball was born and raised in Chatham playing high school football at John McGregor Secondary School under head coach Bill Robinson. Doug graduated from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Human Kinetics (Honours) Degree with a minor in Business. His playing career in university was cut short in his second season as the starting quarterback after sustaining a career ending injury. Doug started coaching junior high school football at the age of 15. Having opted to play senior football in the fall (giving up his eligibility to play junior that year) he coached his classmates in the spring as the offensive coordinator. He would end up helping coach the Junior Panthers to three championships over the next six years. After graduating from university Doug returned home to coach at both the senior and junior levels at McGregor winning two more championships before moving to Blenheim. While living in Blenheim Doug was asked to become the school’s offensive coordinator by then head coach Todd Haskell. In their first year together the two coaches would bring Blenheim their first ever junior football championship and two years later the school’s first ever senior championship. The following year Doug moved back to Chatham and once again became the offensive coordinator of the senior McGregor Panthers who defeated the defending champion Blenheim Bobcats in the Finals. Retiring from coaching football at the age of 28 Doug would spend the following years advancing his own coaching skills and helping out in other community sporting areas including the establishment of the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame with his father. He also began coaching other sports including squash, hockey, basketball and baseball. He would not return to the football field until the age of 45 when approached by the Cougar organization. Today he is a certified NCCP Level II coach and a nationally certified adult trainer which should aid him greatly in his role with the organization. Doug is married (Marnie) with two children who are involved in competitive sports. Cesar Torres
Commissioner Minor football
Head Coach P*ewee Travel Team
Cesar has been involved with the Cougar program for 5 years. He began as a Tyke house League coach and assistant at the NFL camps. He has been the P*ewee coach for 3 seasons and last season took over the responsibility of helping to run the Minor House league program. Along with football Cesar also coaches in the Chatham Wildcat basketball program ( 6 seasons) and is
currently the Major Atom Boys Head coach. Cesar was also one of the founding members of the Minijammer program which helped to produce many of Chatham’s outstanding basketball players. Cesar has a NCCP level II coaching certificate in basketball. Along with coaching Cesar has also officiated football and basketball for the past 17 years. Kevin Allman, Director
Kevin Allman is currently employed at Union Gas Limited as a Gas Management Specialist. He had spent over 10 years in the Information Technology department where he spent five years working alongside Selwyn Jordan. Kevin has always been a huge football fan, however, he attended “The Pines” before they had a football program. In high school, Kevin participated in volleyball, basketball, cross country and track and field. His midget boys track and field record still stands today. Kevin designed, built and provides support for the clubs websites. He also supports the executive with a host of other computer and fundraising activities. Kevin is also on the board of directors of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Treatment Centre. Dee Meurkes, Director of Registration
Dee Meurkes is the co-owner of Enviro-clean Car and Dog Wash, located at 336 Grand Ave. Before taking an “entrepreneurial direction” in her life, Dee was employed with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Chatham-Kent Branch for almost fifteen years. She attended “Merlin District High School”, which did not have a football team, but never the less; she is a strong Cougar supporter. Dee became involved with the Chatham-Kent Cougars when her son David was a player on the “inaugural team” back in 2006 and to this day (even though her son is too old to play), continues to be instrumental in the running of the organization. In her spare time, Dee is very busy with her husband Jim, daughter Amy and her son David, who was an avid football player for the CKSS Hawks, the Chatham-Kent Cougar P*e Wee and Junior Teams. She loves r-ving, shopping and computers. Dee provides support to the executive with her administrative and organizational skills, as Director of Registration and as Junior Team Manager.
