Please help us pay for a committed young woman to complete her nursing program!

Over the years we've been learning and growing in the community. Lives have been saved; suffering has been reduced.

Our health worker Sujata had the essential training needed to run the centre, and now, she's been accepted into a higher-level nursing program! Not only will this expand her personal educational journey as a young woman in Nepal, but she will then take her skills up to Tsum to help villagers.

Our fundraiser is at $725 of our $7000 goal. Please help us if you can!

Your donation will be directly spent on:

📕Tuition costs for the first, second, and third year of her program
📕 Uniforms
📕 Textbooks and school supplies
📕 Transportation to and from the institution (daily 2 hour bus ride)

Hi everyone! This is Jane, Director and Co-Founder of The Compassion Project. My daughter Julie and I are trekking to Tsum, Nepal this fall. I'm so excited to go there with her. Julie is drawn to social justice courses in University and in life, and we'll be learning, growing, and helping as we volunteer at the Compassion Health Centre and school.

To create a positive impact with our trek, we've made a fundraiser. All money raised will go to funding the tuition of our health worker Sujata -- so that she can advance her nursing skills, then take those skills up into the mountains to help the villages.

Congratulations on your acceptance to nursing school, Sujata! We are very proud of you.

The Compassion Project is covering tuition for our long-time staff Sujata so that she can become a fully qualified nurse. She will be attending school in Kathmandu, and after she finishes, she will return to Tsum to continue her work with the community.

Our Operations Manager Tanzin Gyalzen Tsumpa is in Tsum now, and he says that there were many tears as the community said a temporary goodbye.

Sujata has made a big impact and helped so many people at the Compassion Health Centre. Join us in wishing her all the best as she takes her first steps on this part of her educational journey!

We'd like to introduce you to our teacher, Thupten Phuntsok. Thupten has a big heart for his community. After being educated in India, he has returned to his home valley to help improve education and opportunities.

Here is Thupten's bio:

“I come from Tsum Valley, Nepal. When I was about six or seven years old, I went to India for my education and joined Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) School, Suja.

At TCV Suja, I studied English, Tibetan, Science, Social Science, and Mathematics, along with participating in different games and sports. The school helped shape my academic foundation as well as my discipline, responsibility, and values.

Between 2015 and 2018, I actively volunteered in the Environment Club, where I took part in activities related to environmental awareness and service. In 2017, I also volunteered during the 34th Kagyu Monlam World Peace Puja held in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India, supporting the organization and smooth running of the event.

I completed my high school education at Tibetan Children’s Village School, Suja, studying there from 2007 to 2018.

After finishing school, I chose to deepen my understanding of traditional knowledge and pursued studies in Tibetan Astro-Science at the Tibetan Medical and Astrological College. I studied there from 2020 to 2024 and successfully completed the course.

This journey reflects both my academic background and my interest in service, culture, and Tibetan traditional sciences.”

On Monday at 5:00 AM, our Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Sujata delivered a healthy baby in Lamagaun Village. The delivery was completed safely, and the mother and baby have been under supervision to ensure their health.

We are grateful for Sujata's continued service to the community, and for helping moms and babies have safer deliveries and supportive care.
