🎃❤️ 453 LBS OF FOOD! ❤️🎃

West Galt, you absolutely showed up today!

Our first Pumpkins, Treats & Giving Back event was a HUGE success! Thanks to the generosity of our amazing neighbours, we collected an incredible 453 lbs of food for the Cambridge Food Bank — just in time for Thanksgiving. 🥹❤️

Families left food donations on their front steps, and we spent the morning driving around West Galt swapping them for pumpkins and goodie bags! 🎃

The Cambridge Food Bank shared this message with us:

“You raised 453 lbs of food. Thank you so much for including us in your festivities and please know that you will be making this Thanksgiving season better for folks in our community.”

THIS is what community is all about. ❤️

A huge thank you to every family who participated, donated and helped make today such a success. We had so much fun and are already looking forward to doing it again!

The Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program is forever grateful to the City of Cambridge for continuing to support our Child Safety and Community Building Program!

We are working hard to recruit, screen and train new Block Parent Families across the Region, but with a special focus here in Cambridge.

Seeing Block Parent Signs in new Block Parent Homes in our neighbourhoods, will help encourage children and their families to go outside to play, go to the park, and to walk to their friends' house.

The more Block Parent homes we have, the more safe children will feel.

We are so happy and proud to announce that West Galt Cambridge Block Parent, Elyse Bouwmeester, will be taking over the Leadership of the Waterloo Regional Block Parent Program as Chair Person!

Elyse Bouwmeester has been an active member of the Block Parent Program for the past two years and will be joining the Board of Directors as of April 16, 2026. As a Realtor in the Waterloo Region, Elyse is passionate about supporting and strengthening her local community through connection and engagement. Her love for bringing people together has led to the planning of numerous community events across Cambridge, creating spaces where families can connect and feel supported. Elyse’s commitment to the Block Parent Program is rooted in her desire to help create safer neighbourhoods for children and families, and she continues to advocate for more families to get involved in building a safe and connected community.
