Another successful SLA Bootcamp is in the books! 🥾

This year, we're celebrating a record-breaking milestone: 156 law students will be involved with SLA!
We're thrilled to see so many students who want to make a difference in our community.

UCalgary law students! We're hosting an Open House at our office on Tuesday, September 8, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Meet our caseworkers and lawyers, tour the SLA office, learn more about getting involved, and grab a slice of pizza. 🍕

UCalgary law students, are you interested in gaining hands-on legal experience and helping members of the Calgary community? Join SLA as a caseworker for the 2026–27 academic year!

SLA caseworkers work directly with clients, assist with real legal matters, attend court, and develop practical skills under the supervision of experienced lawyers.

Applications are due Wednesday, September 16, at 4:30 p.m.

👏Special Guest Alert 👏

We had the privilege of meeting Calgary Legal Guidance youngest volunteer - Billie!! She came by to meet the crew and spread her love around, something we hear she does very well working at the Calgary Community Court.

(we also caught her working on a personal matter on the desktop)

Calgary Community Court (CCC) is an alternative court program that allows vulnerable Calgarians to address their bylaw infractions by connecting with resources and creating plans for success rather than punitive sanctions.

That’s a wrap! This week we ran our 20th Annual SLA Charity Golf tournament, raising funds to support SLA’s ongoing operations. We want to thank our dependable host Sirocco Golf Club , our lovely sponsors, and all who attended for making this fantastic event possible. Hope to see you again next year!

What a wonderful evening celebrating another year of serving our community and recognizing the incredible dedication of our volunteer caseworkers and advising lawyers.

We were also honoured to celebrate Susan V.R. Billington, KC and her many years of contributions to SLA as she begins her well-deserved retirement later this year. Thank you, Susan, for everything you’ve given to our organization and community.
