🥇 **History made! Our very first Track and Field meet is officially in the books!** 🏃‍♂️
On Tuesday, May 19th, our incredible Grade 7 to 9 athletes took over Foothills Athletic Park for an unforgettable day of competition. Stepping onto the track for the very first time, our team absolutely poured their hearts into every event, competing fiercely, challenging their personal bests, cheering each other on, and beautifully pushing through the crowd. It was an absolutely incredible experience for everyone involved!
This historic milestone would not have been possible without the vision, leadership, and dedication of **Mr. Aaron Mitchell**. Thank you for your tireless training, your guidance, and above all, for believing in the strength, courage, and potential of our students from day one.
A huge shoutout and thank you also goes to **Mr. Anwar Omar** and **Mr. Mahmoud Gomaa** for their phenomenal help, logistical support, and endless encouragement of our athletes throughout the entire event.
With that kind of leadership and heart, it’s no wonder our athletes defied expectations and made it all the way to the **FINALS**! 🏆
We are so incredibly proud of our team for representing us with such grit, sportsmanship, and pride.

What an absolutely magical day! ✨ We just wrapped up our Random Acts of Kindness initiative with our First Annual Kindness Fair, and our hearts are completely full.
The day was packed with:
• Smiles & Joy: The energy was absolutely contagious! 😊
• Interactive Stations: From hands-on learning to creative activities, there was something for everyone.
• Take-Home Treasures: Everyone got to bring home special reminders to keep the kindness going. 🎁
This incredible day wouldn't have been possible without the vision and dedication of Ms. Mentis and Ms. Outh, alongside our phenomenal support staff team Ms. Mobarek, Ms. AlHseen, and Ms. Azmat. Thank you for creating such an incredible opportunity for our young leaders to learn, grow, and shine! ✨💛

Empowered Together: Reflecting on Our School Assurance Measures** 📊✨

A heartfelt thank you to all the parents, students, and Horizon Academies Institute Societies members who joined us for our Annual Stakeholder Meeting.

Our entire HLA staff took part in this vital evening. It was incredibly inspiring and empowering to watch our teachers present exactly how much we have "moved the needle" this year—and share the exciting goals we are looking forward to next.

Seeing and hearing from our staff, students, parents, and Society members what makes our community so powerful. Seeing and hearing the collaboration between our staff and stakeholders is so powerful, and it's a direct reflection of the culture we are building here. Thank you for partnering with us in building a bright future for our students! 💙🏫

Grade 3 students have been hard at work designing and building their very own custom pinball games! 🕹️✨
Throughout the entire process, their creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm truly shone through. When it came time to showcase their hard work, our Grade 3s stepped up as incredible role models, presenting their projects to the younger grades. It was beautiful to see our younger students so motivated and excited to learn directly from their peers!
Whether young or old, Horizon Leaders take immense pride and embody Islamic values in everything they do. 🌟
A massive thank you to Ms. Ahmed for facilitating this wonderful project and providing our students with such a brilliant opportunity to lead and learn!

Our Division 1 students had an unforgettable hands-on learning experience exploring the life cycle of butterflies! 🦋
From observing tiny eggs, to watching caterpillars grow, form chrysalides, and finally emerge as beautiful butterflies — students experienced each stage up close. This engaging science activity brought learning to life and sparked curiosity, wonder, and excitement in the classroom.
The highlight of the project was releasing the butterflies into the air. Seeing them spread their wings and fly away was a joyful and memorable moment for our students! 🌸✨
What a wonderful way to learn about growth, transformation, and the beauty of nature!

Huge congratulations to our Grade 9 Palliser Advisory Committee students! 🌟

Our student leaders had the incredible opportunity to present the **HLA Buddies** program to Palliser representatives and peers from other Palliser High Schools. It was an inspiring session centered on community building, mentorship, and student-led initiatives.
We are so proud of the professionalism and heart these students brought to the table. They truly modeled what it means to be a leader by sharing how we foster connection and support across grade levels here at the academy.

More than just a school—it’s home. 🏠❤️

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of gratitude, and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to enter the final stretch.
From Administrative Assistant Appreciation to Principal Appreciation and Staff Appreciation Days, every single moment has felt deeply meaningful.
Seeing our parents and volunteers transform the staff room with decorations, and watching students "sneak" into the principal’s office with staff to plan a massive surprise during Salah... it reminded us why we do what we do.
When we say we care for each other here, we mean it.
To our admin team, our leaders, and our incredible staff: thank you for making this place feel like family.

🌱 Bridging the Gap: From Soil to Screen!
What an incredible day of discovery for our K–9 students! Last week, we stepped out of the classroom and into the world of Agriculture for Life, where hands-on experience met cutting-edge technology. 🚜💻
Our students didn't just learn about where their food comes from, they saw the future of farming in action. From understanding sustainable practices to exploring the tech that powers modern AG, it was a powerful reminder of how vital this industry is to our everyday lives.
