Our Grade 8 students spent another day exploring important sites in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸

The day began at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, where students learned about the history of slavery, the struggle for civil rights, and the ongoing contributions of African Americans to the story of the United States. They also explored exhibits celebrating achievements in sports, music, arts, and popular culture.

Students then visited Arlington National Cemetery, where they paid their respects at several historic sites, including the gravesites of the Kennedy family and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They had the opportunity to watch the solemn Changing of the Guard ceremony and shared presentations based on their own research about the cemetery and its significance.

As Shabbat approaches, students are looking forward to spending time together and reflecting on another day filled with learning, history, and experiences.

Shabbat Shalom from Washington, D.C.!

The day began at the National Museum of Natural History, where students explored fascinating exhibits featuring dinosaurs, human and animal evolution, and an incredible collection of precious gemstones.

They then headed to the International Spy Museum, where students stepped into the world of espionage through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. Each student even received their own secret spy identity for the experience!

To wrap up the afternoon, students enjoyed ice cream and a walk through some of Washington’s beautiful landmarks, including a stop at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden by the fountain.

Our Grade 8 students spent today exploring history, reflection, and learning in Washington, D.C.

At the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, students connected their classroom learning to powerful real-world experiences through “Daniel’s Story” and the museum’s permanent exhibition, deepening their understanding of the Holocaust, World War II, and the importance of remembrance.

The group also visited the White House Visitor Center, learning more about the history and stories behind one of America’s most iconic landmarks. The thoughtful engagement and curiosity shown by our students continues to make this journey so impactful.
