𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!

We are incredibly proud to see 𝗚𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗿, our 2026 Marathi Paaul Padhate Poodhe – Emerging Trailblazer award recipient, take her passion for science and environmental innovation to a national audience.

Gayatri was recently invited by Global News to speak about her research and her work developing innovative, environmentally friendly solutions for agriculture.

From being named one of Canada’s Top 10 Young Scientists in her age category to winning a Gold Medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, Gayatri is showing us what it looks like when curiosity, purpose, and perseverance come together.

And she’s just getting started.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀! ❤️

Calgary Ganesh Mahotsav – कॅल्गरीचा राजा 2026 brought our community together for a beautiful day of devotion, culture, music, dance, and togetherness.

From the auspicious Sthapana and heartfelt Aarti, to an incredible lineup of performances that kept the energy going, there was something special around every corner. And we closed the celebration in true Maharashtrian style: with a grand Visarjan accompanied by the beats of Dhol-Tasha, sending Bappa off with music, joy, and plenty of spirit.

We’re excited to finally share the first set of 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁𝘀𝗮𝘃 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 — a few moments that capture the colour, energy, and community spirit of the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, sponsored, supported, and helped make Calgary Ganesh Mahotsav 2026 so memorable.

🌟 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗱𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 — 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗿

The Calgary Marathi Association is proud to recognize 𝗚𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝗿 as this year’s recipient of the 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 — celebrating a young individual whose achievements are already making an impact well beyond the classroom.

Gayatri has distinguished herself through her passion for science, innovation, and environmental sustainability. Among her many accomplishments, she has been named one of the 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟭𝟬 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 in her age category and earned a 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮-𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿, along with awards for her work in Agriculture, Fisheries & Food and the Youth Can Innovate category.

Her research reflects a remarkable commitment to solving real-world environmental challenges. Her work has explored ways to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus pollution in water systems, as well as developing a 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹, 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘁𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲.

Her accomplishments have also earned recognition closer to home. In 2026, Gayatri received the 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀+ 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, and was recognized as a 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 recipient in the Environment category.

Beyond science, Gayatri has demonstrated a commitment to bringing people together around environmental awareness and community engagement. She founded 𝗕𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗶 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, combining environmental awareness with Indian arts and providing aspiring singers a platform to share their talents and inspire environmental action.

Gayatri’s journey is a wonderful example of how curiosity, creativity, and a desire to make a difference can come together to create meaningful impact.
