𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟱𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 Gujarati Mandal of Calgary!🎉

The Calgary Marathi Association was honoured to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Gujarati Mandal of Calgary, marking an incredible 50 years of service, culture, and community building.

Reaching this milestone is no small feat. For five decades, the Gujarati Mandal has played a vital role in preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage while bringing people together across generations. Achievements like these are truly inspiring for community organizations around the world.

Our Board of Trustees' Director Ajay Khanolkar and Special Events Director Rohan Sankhe had the privilege of attending the event and presenting the President of Gujarati Mandal, Viral Gandhi, with a special memento — a beautiful silver frame of Laxmi Mata.

We hope that Maa Laxmi’s blessings bring continued prosperity to the Gujarati Mandal, and that they keep thriving and serving the community for many more years to come.

Here’s to celebrating our shared heritage and supporting one another as we grow together 🤝

While our students here in Calgary prepare for their final exams, here’s a look at the bigger picture…

📊 Registrations for this academic year have officially closed, with a remarkable 2,950 students enrolled across BMM Marathi Shalas worldwide!

This is an incredible milestone and a testament to the growing commitment to preserving and promoting the Marathi language across the globe.

These numbers represent thousands of students, parents, and teachers coming together with one shared goal: keeping our language and culture alive for the next generation.

A big thank you to all the volunteers, teachers, and coordinators who make this possible.

Our Level 1 to Level 5 students have successfully completed their mock tests and are now gearing up for their final exams—an important milestone in their Marathi learning journey!

Even half a world away from home, days like today remind us of our shared roots.

On this day in 1960, Maharashtra was formed: and the spirit of Maharashtra travels far beyond its borders. From Calgary to cities around the world, Marathi communities continue to keep our culture alive.

Did you know? Marathi is one of the oldest continuously used languages in India, with roots going back over 1,000 years -- and it was one of the earliest languages to be used for administrative purposes under Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Today, it boasts over 40 dialects spoken across Maharashtra; each adding its own flavor to our shared identity.

Today, we celebrate not just a state, but a rich legacy of language, culture, and resilience.

🩸 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿: 𝗖𝗠𝗔 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲

The Calgary Marathi Association was proud to take part in a city-wide Blood Donation Drive hosted by the Indo Calgary Group, in collaboration with 20+ community organizations, alongside Canadian Blood Services on April 25, 2026.

This initiative brought together an incredible network of community groups, including APCAA, BAA, CTA, BBC3, CBKM, ATCS, TAC, MCAC, CKS, GMoC, OHM, UP, RANA, OSCAA, MP, ISC, IIC Calgary, IITIANS, IHF, JSOC, Uttarakhand, BAJAA, and CHF: all united by a shared goal of giving back.

Thanks to the collective effort, we delivered 𝟱𝟵 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱; each one making a real difference.

🚩The first of our CMA Inter-Association Cup kicked off with an exciting Carrom Tournament, setting the tone for a year full of friendly competition and community spirit. This will be followed with schedule for Cricket, Badminton, and we will wind up the year with Table Tennis. 🏆🏆

What a fantastic day of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship at our Carrom Tournament! A total of 21 teams competed and the day saw over 100+ boards won. 🔥🔥

A big thank you to all the players who participated and brought their competitive spirit to the boards, and to the families and supporters who cheered them on and made the atmosphere so lively.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the amazing volunteers whose time and effort made this event run smoothly from start to finish.

A special thanks to Mumbai Bites for their Sponsorship, Food Truck and a fantastic meal 😋that had everyone wanting another fill and for adding great flavor to the day.
