Last month, our Mobile Health Oral Health Team joined Dr. Sarah Hulland, the team at ABC Pediatrics, and dedicated volunteers for Brushing for Brightness – an annual event that helps brighten thousands of smiles across Calgary.

Together, we packed approximately 5,000 oral hygiene kits, which will be distributed to students through The Alex Dental Health Bus school program. These kits help ensure children have the tools they need to build healthy oral hygiene habits, because every child deserves the opportunity to smile with confidence.

We're grateful to everyone who gave their time and energy to make this event possible. By working together, we're helping remove barriers to oral health and bringing essential care directly to the communities we serve. 💙🪥✨

For thousands of years, Indigenous communities have cared for the land, strengthened families, advanced knowledge, and shared teachings that continue to benefit us all. From cultural burning practices in Australia to environmental stewardship in the Amazon and Inuit knowledge informing climate research, Indigenous knowledge continues to shape a more sustainable future.

When 15-year-old Kailey came to The Alex, she had only recently learned she was pregnant. Feeling scared and uncertain about what lay ahead, she and her family were suddenly faced with navigating a new reality.

Through compassionate prenatal care, parenting education, social support, and connections to community resources, Kailey found more than medical care—she found a team that believed in her.

With the support of her family and The Alex's Pre/Post Natal team, Kailey enrolled at the Louise Dean Centre, attended parenting classes, stayed engaged in her care, and prepared for motherhood with confidence and determination.

Stories like Kailey's remind us that health is about more than appointments. It's about empowering people with the knowledge, support, and confidence they need to build healthy futures.
