Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society - AARCS Changing Lives Through Kindness
A Compassionate World for All Animals Our vision is A Compassionate World for All Animals. Registration number 807188479 RR0001.

The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is a leading animal welfare organization in Alberta built on a foundation of compassion and kindness. Our values are embodied by our hard-working staff, dedicated volunteers, loving foster homes and generous supporters. Our goals are to help homeless animals in communities across Alberta, and to provide community support programs to address the root causes of animal overpopulation and homelessness. Our mission is to rescue and re-home animals in need and provide community support programs that help people and their pets. We have an intake shelter and veterinary hospital in Calgary, Alberta. We care for on average 500 animals at any given time and see thousands of animals through our doors each year. The organization is supported by over thousands of volunteers and foster parents across Alberta. We pride ourselves as a place where everyone is welcome — a place where individuals, families and businesses can come together to volunteer and give back in an area that is important to them. Whether that be as a caregiver in the shelter, as a foster family, a transport driver or part of our events team, there is something for every animal lover. AARCS and the people who make up this amazing organization are making a difference every day in the lives of homeless animals, and there really is no greater feeling in the world than to save a life. We acknowledge that AARCS Safe Haven and Veterinary Hospital is located on traditional territories of the Niitsítapi (Blackfoot) and the peoples of Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksiká, Piikáni, Tsúūt’ínà and Stoney Nakoda First Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley) and that Calgary is home to Métis Nation of Alberta District III. AARCS is a federally registered charity in Canada and a registered not-for-profit society in Alberta.

A pair this charming deserves a double take! 👀

Meet Runaway & Helmut, a guinea pig dynamic duo who arrived at AARCS when they were just one week old as part of a 50-guinea-pig intake in February 2026. 🐹 🐹

Runaway is curious, quick and always on the move, while Helmut is chatty, playful and determined to be in the middle of the action. They’re a lot of personality in two tiny packages and READY to find their furever home! 🥰

As our Critters of the Week, they have a reduced adoption fee! 🎉 View their profile and apply to adopt at aarcs.ca/animal/a2000402119-a2000402129.

Puppies? We’ve got ’em. Fosters? We need ’em. 🐶

The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder, and we’re receiving urgent calls about puppies living out in the cold. Dozens of puppies need a warm, safe place to land, and more are on their way.

We provide the food, supplies and medical care. What we need from you is a warm home, a little time and lots of love. 💚

If you can help with the incoming puppy parade, please apply to foster at aarcs.ca/foster. 🏡

Every day, AARCS receives dozens of surrender requests from people who desperately want to keep their pets, but are facing circumstances beyond their control. 💔

For these families, surrendering a beloved pet can feel like the only option. But for the pet, the best place to be is often exactly where they already are: home, surrounded by the people who love them. 🥰

That’s why Compassionate Veterinary Care matters. By providing accessible veterinary care to families in need, we can help prevent surrenders before they happen, keep pets with their people, and preserve valuable shelter space for animals who truly need it.

Want to help? Right now, your gift can go TWICE as far for pets and the people that love them! 💚

AARCS supporters Tom and Jennifer Foss are generously MATCHING every donation to Compassionate Veterinary Care, up to $20,000! Every dollar you donate is instantly doubled, meaning we can help twice as many families. 🩺

Our next Compassionate Veterinary Care program is a Seniors’ Pet Wellness Clinic on October 14th, which will provide essential care to keep seniors' cherished companions happy and healthy. Help us reach our $20,000 matching goal by October 14th by donating at aarcs.ca/match.

Happy ! Today we’re highlighting Emmy, a gorgeous two-year-old house panther with golden eyes, a soft coat and a BIG heart. 🖤✨

This sweet girl is a devoted little shadow who loves following her humans from room to room and curling up beside them. She’s affectionate and cuddly but has a playful side to keep you on your toes! 😼

Emmy came into our care with her kittens, who have all found their homes. 🏡 Now it’s her turn to find her people, and she’d love nothing more than to be the centre of attention as the only cat in the home. 🐈‍⬛

As Cat of the Week, Emmy has a reduced adoption fee! 🎉 If you’ve been looking for a sign to adopt, this is it! ✨ View her profile and apply to adopt at aarcs.ca/animal/a2000454478. 🐾

We’re looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help champion our dedicated and engaged volunteers. ✨

If you’re organized, approachable, adaptable and genuinely love working with people (and animals!), this could be the role for you! You’ll help recruit, train, support and connect the incredible volunteers who make our work possible. 💚

Ready to join the crew? Learn more and apply at aarcs.ca/careers.

Happy ! Today, we’re highlighting Miles, a sweet, ten-month-old, 50 lb pup who came into our care in May. 🐶

No puppy should grow up in a shelter, and we’d love to find him a patient home where he can learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. 💚

Miles needs someone who can match his pace and give him the time he needs to build trust. Once he knows you, Miles is a fun-loving, friendly guy who loves showing off his zoomies! He’d do best in a home with a fenced yard and children over 10. He’d also love to have another dog around who can show him the ropes. 🐕

If you have room in your home to help this sweet boy come out of his shell, apply to foster at aarcs.ca/foster. 🏡

Or if Miles has already cast a spell on you, check out his profile and apply to adopt at aarcs.ca/dogs. 🎃🐾
