Big thanks to Firefly Solar for providing us with some free solar panels and electrical equipment to upgrade our PIT (passive integrated transponder) tag arrays in the Porcupine Hills! These arrays are helping us track movement (or lack of) Westslope Cutthroat Trout in the Callum Creek watershed, where we are implementing a lot of low tech process based restoration (LTPBR).

NEED THAT NUDGE TO JOIN FLYATHLON!

Flyathlon is inspired by Running Rivers in Colorado which combines running, fishing, and craft beer all in one event!

It’s designed to be inclusive rather than competitive to create positive and fishy outdoor experiences and memories!

It’s a beginner friendly event and if you’re worried about never fished before, we have fish whisperers to help you along the way 🎣

Flyathletes have a chance to win fun prizes throughout the day and can celebrate at Troubled Monk post race with their fellow Flyathletes 🍻

Join us September 12th in Red Deer, Alberta by signing up in our bio today 😁

Happy World Lake Day 🌊

Today we recognize the vital role that lakes play in our everyday lives and ecosystems!

Lakes provide freshwater for communities, agriculture, and industries, while supporting countless fish, plants, and wildlife species 🐟

Our conservation crew recently went out to check on the success of our Lake Ontario Bass Habitat Enhancement project!

This project involved constructing Bass habitat structures using barge, 100 tons of stone and 25 boulders clusters to benefit bass and other native lake species by providing additional structure for them to hide, hunt, and breed.

Our crew will set out next summer to conduct another snorkel survey to demonstrate the structure’s effectiveness 🤿
