Thousands of Albertans are quietly carrying the physical, emotional, and financial weight of infertility — all at once.
The average patient in Alberta pays $35,000 for treatment. Many pay far more. And they do it with little employer support, no provincial funding, and no guarantee it will work.
This Monday, April 20th, that story gets evidence behind it.
Fertility Alberta is releasing two years of research findings in partnership with Mount Royal University. These findings will show exactly what Albertans with infertility are facing.

Calgary is lighting up green for fertility awareness and we’d love for you to be part of it. 💚
Fertility and family-building challenges can feel invisible… and painfully isolating. Light the Night is about changing that.
It’s a moment to stand together, spark conversations, and remind every person navigating this path:
You are not alone.

It’s almost time!
After 2 years of work, we are thrilled to share the results of our research project with Mount Royal University. The study examines the economic and social impacts on Albertans navigating fertility care while maintaining employment.
We will release the intriguing data on April 20 during Canadian Fertility Awareness Week.
Stay tuned here and sign up for our newsletter using the “Join” link in our bio to be the first to learn how employer support (or lack thereof) influences Albertans’ fertility journeys.

A reminder as we draw close to April:

A fake pregnancy announcement is not funny.
1 in 6 couples struggle with infertility
1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage
There IS someone within your circle who has gone through this. They are just trying to keep going and hold onto hope. They are in pain.
A fake announcement adds to that hurt.
It’s not funny. It’s not a joke. It’s not ok.
Do NOT joke about pregnancy this April Fool’s Day.

We are absolutely buzzing with gratitude today. We’ve officially grown to a community of over 1,000 strong!
This milestone is so much more than just a number on a screen. Every follow represents a story, a struggle, a hope, and a voice.
The truth is, we couldn’t advocate for better fertility and reproductive healthcare in Alberta without YOU. It is the shared experiences and the powerful voices of patients like you that give our mission its heart and its weight.
When we speak to policymakers, healthcare leaders, and employers, we aren’t just bringing data — we are sharing your stories. Thank you for trusting us, engaging with us, and standing with us as we push for a more accessible future for all Albertans building their families.

✨ Today we were proud to be part of an important conversation about the future of women’s health.
Members of Fertility Alberta hosted a booth today at the Women’s Health Symposium at the Calgary Central Library, joining more than 20 organizations working to advance education, research, and support for women across Alberta.
Hosted by the , and Calgary Women’s Health Foundation, this incredible event brought together experts and advocates to spotlight critical topics impacting women’s health — from reproductive health and pelvic floor care to menopause, ADHD in women, and more.
Infertility affects 1 in 6 Albertans, yet conversations around public funding, fertility care, access, and workplace support are still too often missing from the broader women’s health dialogue. Today, our board members were honoured to connect with attendees, share resources, and advocate for stronger fertility support and awareness across our province.
Events like this remind us that when women’s health is prioritized, entire communities thrive.

Happy International Women’s Day weekend — and here’s to building a healthcare system that truly works for women at every stage of life. 💜
