New support is available for Prairie businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs.

The expanded Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI) offers eligible businesses up to $3 million in non-repayable contributions, including up to $2 million in liquidity support to help manage tariff-related pressures.

Eligibility has also expanded to businesses with at least $1 million in annual revenue that can demonstrate tariff impacts.

📣 More federal support is now available for businesses impacted by tariffs.

With an additional $1.5 billion investment, the Government of Canada has strengthened the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), bringing the national measure to $3.45 billion. Delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies (RDAs), RTRI helps businesses adapt to changing market conditions, strengthen competitiveness, diversify into new markets, optimize supply chains, and build greater trade resilience.

RTRI is delivered by Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan) in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Today, Minister Olszewski announced that PrairiesCan is now accepting applications for the expanded RTRI from eligible SMEs and organizations.

The expansion means:Eligible businesses can now access up to $3 million in combined non-repayable funding, consisting of:
✅ up to $2 million in liquidity assistance to help manage tariff-related pressures
✅ up to $1 million for a non-repayable pivot project to strengthen competitiveness and reduce exposure to future trade disruptions

RTRI continues to support businesses through activities such as:
➡️ Adopting new technologies through digitization & automation
➡️ Expanding exports and diversifying markets
➡️ Strengthening and optimizing supply chains
➡️ Reshoring production and Research and Development activities
➡️ Accessing specialized talent and expertise
