Weather forecast for this morning? Diabolical
Reality? Magnificent
Despite the forecast of rain, 143 resilient runners/walkers and 14 valiant volunteers wandered down to BBG for event #260, helping parkrun globally to reach 1 million events this weekend since the inaugural event at Bushy Park in London in 2004.
It was awesome to welcome a couple of first timers to the parkrun family, with Brad and Bree getting their barcodes scanned for the first time. We hope that you had a great morning with us and come back again soon.
We love having tourists joining us and this morning we had 18 visitors from a range of places, including Berwick Springs, Birdsland Reserve, Studley, Wyndham Vale, Lancefield, Timboon, Shepparton, Portarlington, Bannockburn Bush, Warrnambool, Christies Beach, Adelaide and faraway Kenny Rez. Thanks for sharing your Saturday morning with us.
In addition to the global milestone of 1 million events, we had a few fabulous personal milestones. Congratulations to the following legends:
* 10 - Billy
* 25 - Alex
* 100 - Craig
* 350 - Local legend, Belinda, which includes 149 at BBG
* First time volunteer - Darby
It also was a fabulous morning for personal bests, with 15 participants getting a chance to ring the pb bell. Fantastic effort, everyone.
As always, we couldn't do this without our brilliant volunteers. A massive thanks to Cathy, Kylie, Tony, Helen, Darryl, Ben, Sharon, Michele, Darby, Geoff, Tim, Andrew and Cassandra. We couldn't have these events without these legends, and we appreciate the effort that you all put in to create such fantastic events.
I hope that everyone has a great week and we look forward to seeing you all next Saturday morning. Don't forget your barcode!
