This National Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible humans who keep Frankie’s Community Kitchen moving every single day.

From preparing meals, packing produce and washing dishes, to offering a smile, a conversation or simply showing up when needed most, our volunteers are the heart of this kitchen.

What happens here is about far more than food. It’s about community, dignity, care and connection. And none of it would be possible without the generosity of people willing to give their time to others.

To every volunteer who has stood beside us - thank you. Your contribution matters more than you know.

And to those who support us in quieter ways - donating food, sharing our posts, offering encouragement or simply believing in what we do - thank you too. It all makes a difference. 🤍

Could this be YOUR year to volunteer? [email protected] - Gady will get you sorted, if you are keen to try.

A big thank you to the Commonwealth Bank - and Nash Winzer (Warragul’s Branch Manager) for their generous grant donation. This vital grant money will go toward essential equipment for our Kitchen - namely a new stick blender.

It’s donations like these, given with community spirit, that keeps Frankie’s Community Kitchen running. We cannot thank you enough for the grant.

This week marks National Volunteer Week ❤️ Australia’s largest celebration of volunteering ❤️ and at Frankie’s, it’s a chance to acknowledge the incredible humans who quietly show up for their communities every single day. ❤️

The 2026 theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” recognises the impact volunteers make across Australia and encourages more people to discover how powerful giving their time can be.

At Frankie’s Community Kitchen, volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. From preparing meals, packing produce, collecting donations, driving deliveries, offering a listening ear or simply showing kindness ❤️ every act matters.

To every volunteer who has stood beside us, supported our mission, or helped feed and care for our community: thank you. Your generosity creates real impact, and Frankie’s simply would not exist without you. ❤️

And for anyone thinking about volunteering …. maybe this is your year. ✨ Email enquiries; [email protected]

This week we celebrate our volunteers!!! Volunteering week Australia is our chance to say thank you and to shine the light on those who give with so much love and compassion.

“To ALL the volunteers at Frankie’s Community Kitchen: veggie preppers, quiche makers, egg runners, packers, dishwashers, committee members & everyone in between. Please know that you are seen & truly appreciated.

None of this would be possible without your generosity & energy.

THANKS A MILLION !” - Gady.

Let’s turn to those who volunteer, in anyway they can, and say a big “thank you!”.

Every week, Frankie’s collects fruit, vegetables, pantry items, and bakery goods from local suppliers.
Most of it is perfectly good food that just didn’t make it to shelves.

Instead of ending up in landfill, it ends up on plates - nourishing families, individuals, and anyone doing it tough.
A win for people and the planet.

Thanks to our team of volunteers who help put it all together - week in and week out.

A note from Volunteering Australia-

“From 18 to 24 May, National Volunteer Week is a national moment to recognise and celebrate the volunteers who strengthen our communities every day.

It’s also an opportunity for organisations, governments and leaders to help shape how volunteering is seen, supported and experienced across Australia…

Let’s make this a week that not only says thank you, but opens the door for more people to get involved.

Let’s all help to make it Your Year to Volunteer.”

Here at Frankies Community Kitchen, we rely on Volunteers to keep us going - all sorts of people, from all walks of life, volunteer in different kinds of ways - from skills, to time, to financial aid … it doesn’t matter - what matters is that we are all helping each other out. The volunteers are the very heart of our engine room. We look forward to celebrating them in a little over a weeks time - in the National Volunteer Week.

Thank you.

A special mention to who volunteers her time and skills to take such wonderful photos of the kitchen - capturing what volunteering at Frankies Community Kitchen looks like.

Last week we had a team of 3 in from to help us in the Community Kitchen.

As Luke described the night - “The girls smashed it today; we got a lot done in a short window! They were greeted by a truck with 924 meals to unload as they walked in the door, and got straight into to help me unload our delivery from Secondbite. Then moved straight into the kitchen and Emma got packing the quiches from last night with me, while Emily & Olivia started to get the pastry ready for this afternoon cook. Once Emma and I had finished getting the quiches packed we helped to finish off the pastry for the quiches (840 prepared) before moving on to doing some veggie prep & cracking over 320 eggs for the cook I’ve just completed!”.

Thank you for your team of volunteers. They were absolutely brilliant and we are so very grateful for all the help they gave us on the night. Team work makes the dream work!
