4 WEEKS TO GO! The countdown is on… just 4 weeks until the patrol season begins! Flags go up on 26th September

Our volunteer lifesavers are getting ready to return to the beaches, keeping our coastline safe and helping beachgoers make safer choices in and around the water. 💙💛

As we head into the warmer months, remember:
Swim between the red and yellow flags
Keep a close eye on children around water
Know your beach and check conditions before you go
If you see someone in trouble, seek help from a lifesaver

Congratulations to Trevor Gee from Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club for winning the Coach of the Year category at Saturday night's SLSNSW Awards of Excellence!

Trevor’s commitment extends well beyond technical coaching. He integrates elite support structures, including regular goal-setting sessions with athletes, which promote transparent communication, strengthen trust and allow training programs to be refined to meet individual needs. This personalised approach ensures athletes feel seen, supported and valued, creating an environment where they are motivated to keep improving. At 2026 Surf Aussies, Trevor's team achieved a remarkable 5 GOLD, 8 SILVER and 3 BRONZE.

🏆 Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence — Winner Spotlight 🏆

Congratulations to Paul Lemmon OAM from Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club for winning the Masters Athlete of the Year category at Saturday night's SLSNSW Awards of Excellence!

This is a remarkable, 14th time that Paul has won the award at state level. In the 2025/26 season alone, Paul has amassed 11 GOLD, 1 SILVER and 1 BRONZE at Aussies level in both Pool Rescue and Surf events. He is a champion athlete who displays all that is good in Surf Lifesaving – dedicated, respectful and a role model to members of our movement, from the juniors all the way through the age groups, to the masters.

🏆 Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence — Winner Spotlight 🏆

Congratulations to Sean Leicester from The Lakes Surf Life Saving Club and the SLSCC Rescue Services Team for winning the Support Operations Member of the Year category at Saturday night's SLSNSW Awards of Excellence! Sean is pictured here with SLSCC Director of Lifesaving, Mr Gordon Smith.

Sean is a proactive, considerate and extremely effective lifesaver whose calming presence has a positive influence on all those around him earning him praise and respect for all that he does. Sean moved into rescue services first as a Rescue Watercraft Operator in 2016 and more recently as a Duty Officer after achieving his AIIMS Level 1 qualification. Throughout his career with SLS Sean has patrolled in excess of 1,500 hours across the Central Coast with over 120 hours in the 2025-26 season.

Congratulations to Paul Dowdell of Shelly Beach Surf Club winner of Facilitator of the Year at Saturday night's SLSNSW Awards of Excellence!

Paul is one of the Central Coast’s most strategically valuable and influential facilitators, whose leadership, technical capability and movement first mindset have strengthened education delivery across multiple clubs and the Branch for more than a decade. His contribution extends far beyond course delivery.

🏆 Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence — Winner Spotlight 🏆

Congratulations to Craig Le Brocq from Shelly Beach Surf Club , winner of Assessor of the Year at Saturday night's SLSNSW Awards of Excellence!

During the 2025/26 season, he assessed 12 Skills Maintenance sessions, supporting 143 members across Bronze Medallion, SRC, ART, ART (AID) and Resuscitation. His assessments were consistent, fair and well structured, ensuring members met standards while maintaining a positive experience. He also acted as Endorsed Delegate for ART sessions and completed required proficiency components. This directly supported patrol readiness by ensuring members remained current and operationally deployable.

What makes Lucy exceptional is the heart and strength she brings to every role. She leads through action, warmth and consistency, modelling the positive attitudes, behaviours and actions expected of a young lifesaver. Younger members see someone talented but approachable, competitive but kind, and committed not only to her own success but to lifting others.
