Strzelecki Showtime

Strzelecki Showtime This page is for fans and friends of the show to follow our journey and get the latest news. We sing about this in our theme song Touch of Silver.

HOW OUR SHOW BEGAN

Scout Shows originally began back in 1932 in London with Ralph Reader CBE creating the first Gang Show. It was a popular creation and soon Gang Shows began all over the world with the Brisbane the first in Australia starting in 1952 and then Melbourne Gang Show in 1953. Strzelecki Showtime was started with the help of Melbourne Gang Show in 1969 and has been running annually ev

er since. Originally Strzelecki Showtime took the form of the original Gang Shows by running a review style show. Over the years we have evolved and now we perform or own totally brand new original full musical production every year. OUR BADGE AND SCARF

At the conception of Strzelecki Showtime, it was decided that we should have a scarf of our own (rather than the traditional red scarf worn by gang shows). The colour that was decided on was golden yellow with a silver woggle. Our badge has evolved over the years from the old Strzelecki District badge to what we have today.

✨ Strzelecki Showtime has been performing in the Strzelecki District of Victoria for nearly 60 years. Our new logo pulls together elements that have featured on our District and Show badges since 1969.

The Blackwood tree, indigenous to the Latrobe Valley, featured on our very first badge and represents the Morwell area. From 1981 our badge also included the river, reflecting Traralgon, meaning “river of little fish” from the local Aboriginal language.

🎭 Our legacy always remains 🩶💛

Each year, Strzelecki Showtime brings an original musical to life with a large local cast, live orchestra, and a passionate creative team. As we begin planning our next production, we are looking for someone to join the leadership team in the role of Producer.

The Producer plays an important role in supporting the production from planning through to performance, helping coordinate communication, organisation, and the many moving parts that bring a show to the stage. You’ll work closely with the director and creative team to help guide the overall production process.

This is a volunteer position and a wonderful opportunity for someone who:
• is a financial member of Scouts Victoria
• enjoys organising and coordinating projects
• communicates well with a large team
• wants to help scouts get on stage

A full position description is available on request.
