🌟 Volunteer of the Day: Chloe! 🌟

Today’s Latrobe City Council Volunteer Expo has been buzzing with energy thanks to Chloe from the Latrobe City Council Youth Council!

Chloe has brought enthusiasm, positivity and a passion for community that perfectly represents the next generation of volunteers making a difference across Victoria.

Did you know? Young people aged 15–24 are the largest group of volunteers in Victoria according to the Volunteering Victoria Victorian State of Volunteering Report and Chloe is a fantastic example of why!

Thank you, Chloe, for inspiring others and showing the power of young people in our community.

She coaches the Under 12s. Then pulls on her boots and plays herself. ⚽

For Lucy at Inverloch Stars Soccer Club, giving back isn't a sacrifice — it's just part of being in the game.

Watching the kids grow. Meeting new people. Helping make sport possible for the next generation.

And yeah — coaching has made her a better player too. 😄

That's the thing about volunteering. You get back just as much as you give.

This is her year to volunteer.

Is it yours?

We are so proud of all our Gippsland volunteers, but we have to give a special shoutout to Zaralee, one of our absolute favourites!
Her love for volunteering is almost as big as her love for bats, and that's saying something! A proud Gunaikurnai woman, Zaralee volunteers with Moonshadow Flying Fox Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre.
We see you, Zaralee. And we love it. 🦇❤️

Two volunteers. One club. Endless impact. 🎾

Ryan and Taylor both give their time to Moe Tennis Club - and between them, they do it all. From running the club as president to managing the shop, taking fees, and keeping the socials going.

Different roles. Same reason.

Giving back. Being part of something bigger. And knowing that what they do helps kids grow, adults connect, and their community thrive.

That's what volunteering looks like in Gippsland.

This is Ryan and Taylor's year to volunteer.

Is it yours?

Meet the heart of Gippsland Badminton. 🏸

Debbie has been showing up for over 25 years.
Rowan volunteers because he loves the game and wants it to survive.
Honey does it for the social life, the sport, and the people she's met along the way.

Three volunteers. One club. All in it for the love of it.

This is their year to volunteer.

Is it yours?

It starts with one year. Where could it take you?

Congratulations to our 2025 Victorian Volunteer of the Year, Glenys Watts, who was celebrated last night as a finalist at the inaugural national awards.

Held on the Ngunnawal lands in Canberra, the event brought together eight State and Territory recipients, each representing the strength, diversity and impact of volunteering in their communities.

A proud Gunaikurnai Elder and respected community leader, Glenys has spent more than 30 years strengthening cultural preservation, truth-telling and community wellbeing across Victoria.

“I don’t volunteer for recognition – I do it out of passion and a drive to create change.”

We're incredibly proud of Glenys for all her achievements and for representing Victoria on the national stage. ❤️

Inspired by Glenys’ story? You can help select this year's recipient by nominating in the 2026 Victorian Volunteering Awards, closing soon!
