Sometimes talking feels right. Sometimes texting is easier. Sometimes you just want to type.

From 19 October, 13YARN will offer more ways for Mob to connect with culturally safe crisis support.

We asked community what would make reaching out for support feel safe, useful and trusted. Community told us they wanted more choice, more privacy, easier access and different ways to connect.
We listened.

Together we created a service where people can Talk, Text or Type while still connecting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Crisis Supporters.

This service belongs to community and has been shaped by community. Mob serving Mob. 13YARN your way. TALK, TEXT or TYPE

Whether you prefer to talk, text or type, support will soon be available in the way that feels most comfortable for you.

Soon, you'll be able to connect with 13YARN in the way that feels right for you.

Talk. Text. Type. Your yarn, your way.

Loneliness can feel like being disconnected from yourself, family, community, culture or Country. It can even happen when you're surrounded by mob.

Strong connections to culture, community, Country and Elders can help protect against loneliness and support our social and emotional wellbeing.

If loneliness is weighing on your spirit, reach out for support. 13YARN is here for a yarn, 24/7 on 13 92 76.

Last week, we were honoured to welcome The Hon Emma McBride MP McBride MP, Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Su***de Prevention, and Senator the Hon Senator Malarndirri McCarthy - Northern Territory, Minister for Indigenous Australians, to Lifeline Australia's Sydney office to meet with the 13YARN team.

We spoke about the growth of the service over the past 4 years of operation and the recent funding announcement to launch a 13YARN text service which will be a significant next step in closing the su***de gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

These are the conversations that matter. We are grateful to both Ministers for their time, their commitment, and their belief in what 13YARN is building.

Checking in on our Elders helps prevent loneliness and supports their social and emotional wellbeing.
Our Elders can sometimes be vulnerable to isolation and depression. A regular phone call, sitting down for a yarn, or helping someone get out and about can mean a great deal and make a positive difference.

13YARN is available for mob 24/7 on 13 92 76. We take the time to listen without judgment or shame
