Museums & Galleries of NSW

Museums & Galleries of NSW Museums & Galleries of NSW supports museums, galleries and Aboriginal cultural centres in metropolitan and regional NSW.

Museums & Galleries of NSW helps small-medium museums, galleries and Aboriginal cultural centres create exciting experiences for visitors and, through this, thriving local NSW communities. We don't run museums, galleries and cultural centres but we care about those who do. We develop their skills, connect them with others in the industry, provide funding, point visitors their way, and give them access to ground-breaking exhibitions. Museums & Galleries of NSW is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.

Every year, the M&G NSW Board travels to a regional part of NSW to meet the people behind the museums and galleries we support, hearing firsthand about their work for their communities and the challenges they face.

This year, the Board and some of our staff visited the Hunter Region, meeting staff and volunteers, as well as some senior council staff and elected representatives. As with every previous trip, we were impressed by the valuable work each organisation does to deliver meaningful cultural engagement to their communities. Our thanks to the following organisations for making the time to meet:

Fort Scratchley
Maitland Regional Art Gallery
Miss Porter’s House
Morpeth Museum
Murrook Aboriginal Cultural Centre
Newcastle Art Gallery
Newcastle Museum
Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre
The Lock Up

This workshop helps participants get clear on what they want and why it matters.

We explore the purpose behind goals, using tools like the Five Whys and values-mapping to connect goals to internal motivation rather than external pressure.

Participants learn habit-shaping strategies and the evidence-based WOOP technique to move from intention into meaningful action.

The focus is on goals that are energising, sustainable, and authentically aligned.

Burnout is more than feeling tired. In this workshop, participants take a burnout self-check and learn to recognise the emotional, physical, and behavioural signs early.

We explore the areas of life that require maintenance to prevent overload, and introduce a simple approach to meaningful, sustainable self-care that is actually doable.

The session includes a reflective Scrappy Self Care exercise and resource recommendations to support continued recovery and resilience.

Monday, 31 August 2026

Understand the early signs of burnout and learn practical ways to reduce overload and recover without adding more pressure to your life.
