Diabetes Feet Australia Diabetes Feet Australia's vision is to end avoidable amputations in a generation

Diabetes Feet Australia is the peak national clinical and research body for diabetes-related foot health and disease. In 2018, we joined the Australian Diabetes Society's (ADS) stable of national diabetes clinical and research programs. In December 2020, DFA took the important step of re-branding the organisation from Diabetic Foot Australia to Diabetes Feet Australia.

The new Pedorthic Footwear Standards are the result of a strong multidisciplinary collaboration—bringing together pedorthists, podiatrists, and academic experts in lower limb health.

This shared effort highlights the importance of working across professions to improve the quality, safety, and consistency of pedorthic (medical-grade) footwear in Australia.

We’re grateful for the support of the organisations that formally endorsed the Standards:

• Australian Physiotherapy Association
• Australian Podiatry Association
• Diabetes Feet Australia
• IVO International Association for Orthopaedic Shoe Technicians
• National Association of Diabetes Centres

Thank you to these organisations for their contribution to strengthening care and supporting better outcomes for patients.

From the DFA team, thank you all for the important work you do each and every day. It's been another big year at DFA with the release of the Australian strategy for foot health and disease in diabetes 2030, the 2025 DFA Conference, our 2nd national Diabetes Feet Day, the release of educational webinars and a whole bunch of other stuff that's working towards improving the foot health of people living with diabetes in Australia. DFA is now taking a short break and we'll be back in action from the 12th January.

Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and restful festive break!

This is calling for more inclusive and supportive workplaces where people with diabetes feel supported, not stigmatised. By strengthening awareness and understanding, we can ensure workplaces where people living with diabetes feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive – without compromising their health or ambitions. So...how often do you think about the impact of diabetes and DFD in the workplace? https://www.diabetesfeetaustralia.org/wdd2025/

Here at Diabetes Feet Australia, we're committed to improving the foot health outcomes for people living with diabetes and in turn help reduce the large health burdens caused by diabetes-related foot disease on the nation, and we're excited to launch the new Australian strategy for foot health and disease in diabetes 2030!

To officially launch the strategy we've also released an insightful webinar where we chat with some of the authors about why we need a new DFD strategy and discuss how and why the nine key national priority goals can help improve the foot health of people living with diabetes.
