Only one week to go until our next community seminar. Recent events in The Gap have shown us how important good connections between the people living here are. For example in the 2022 flooding event, people kept each other informed about the water level in the dam, and people helped those at risk of flooding. Or on the many occasions, when people's pets escape, there will be photos on The Gap Grapevine, or kind people take the lost pets in until the owner is found. Or when wildlife needs care, such as when the curlews decide to nest on the footpath near Wittonga park. Or earlier this year the community informed each other about a proposed 10 story development on cherished golf course green space and people came together to write high quality submissions highlighting key flaws in that proposal, such as a lack of alignment with The Gap neighbourhood plan. These and many other examples come to mind when we think about the contribution citizens make to the community. How can we become even more active and well connected? Come along Tuesday the 15th September to join Damien to discuss the topic of citizenship. Also hear about the response by the developer to the community concerns with regards to the Ashgrove Gold Course 10 storey proposal.
