We're back for April! Come join us for our April working bee this weekend, at Dawn Street Park (upstream from the Coopers Camp Road bridge). We'll be removing w**ds along the banks of Ithaca Creek, creating better habitat for our native wildlife. If you're coming, bring a hat, waterbottle and sunscreen. You can bring a shovel or mattock for digging, but we'll have some available for you to use. Hope to see you there!

Thank you to all our volunteers who came to help today!

We made some amazing progress in both w**ding and planting. We helped protect our rainforest slope by w**ding the edge at the bottom of it, keeping it safe from w**d invasion. We also put in around 100 plants, to help establish native forest in one of our toughest spots! This spot has poor soil, is underneath several large trees, and has been a difficult one to plant in before.

This time, we put in some fast-growing and (hopefully) bombproof natives, including Acacia melanoxylon (Blackwood), Trema tomentosa (Poison Peach), Hibiscus heterophyllus (Native Rosella), Lomandra longifolia (Spiny-Leaved Mat Rush), Solanum aviculare (Kangaroo Apple) and Glochidion ferdinandi (Cheese Tree). These will provide a quick native canopy, stopping w**ds from re-emerging and allowing for further plantings.

Thanks again everyone for your help, hope to see you at the next working bee!

🌱🌱 Thank you everyone 🌱🌱

We had our first working bee of 2026 yesterday, with seven volunteers coming along to help take care of our creek.

While the summer heat was harsh, our volunteers did an amazing job cleaning up our previous plantings along the bikepath. The results look amazing and give the public better access to our street library. We made a fairly hefty pile of w**ds and put in a few dozen native plants.

It was the first working bee in a while and I'm hoping to make them more regular, now that my first year of uni's under control! I'll give you information about my next working bee as soon as it's organised.

Sorry for the break in posts everyone! Here's some of our work from the last working bee, where we planted rare and endangered species along the bikepath. I hope that putting these plants here will give locals a greater understanding of our native flora and some of the challenges these rare species face.

Anyways, our next working bee is coming up on August 24th, from 8am to 10am. We'll be w**ding and planting along the creek bank and would love you to come along and help! Gardening equipment (gloves & shovels) is provided but you're welcome to bring your own. The main things you'll need are a hat and waterbottle. Hope to.see you there!
