Milo/Kirby Cup

On Friday, 27 February, 42 for 42 came together with Marist College Ashgrove and St Laurence’s College to host the Milo/Kirby Cup — an event held in honour of two Old Boys who fell in service to their country.

Lance Corporal Stjepan “Milo” Milosevic, KIA 29 August 2012 in Afghanistan, attended Marist College Ashgrove as a boarder.

Private Grant “Kirbs” Kirby, KIA 20 August 2010 in Afghanistan, attended St Laurence’s College.

The Milo/Kirby Cup, named in recognition of these two fallen Australian soldiers and proud Old Boys of their respective schools, reflects the core values lived by Australian servicemen and women: Courage, Initiative, Respect, and Teamwork.

This year marked the second Milo/Kirby Cup. The inaugural event was a cricket match — a 42-Ball Bash — and in 2026 it entered the AIC sporting competition through AFL, with hopes it will continue to grow into an annual tradition.

Thank you to both schools, their students, staff, coaches, and everyone who attended. Your support helped create a fitting tribute to two brave Australians and two valued members of your school communities.

Hello supporters of the 42 for 42,

We are very excited to announce our guests speakers and sales of the tickets to this year’s 42 annual luncheon at the Queensland Cricketrs Club on Friday March 27th.

Daniel Keighran VC; A recipient of the Victoria Cross in Afghanistan 2010, the nation’s highest military honour for extraordinary bravery.

Corporal Daniel Keighran VC is a highly respected Australian soldier, who demonstrated exceptional humility, extraordinary leadership and self-less courage during a fierce engagement in Afghanistan, repeatedly exposing himself to intense enemy fire to protect and enable the safe withdrawal of his comrades, exemplifying the very best qualities of duty and devotion to others.
He continues to inspire through service, resilience, and dedication to others especially those who are veterans of the Australian Defence Force.

Jeff Thomson; The legendary Australian fast bowler of the 1970s and 80s. Renowned as one of the fastest bowlers in cricket history, he was often referred to as "Thommo" throughout his career and during his time as a cricket commentator and speaker

Thommo was one of the fastest and most feared bowlers in cricket history. Famous for his explosive pace and intimidating presence, he terrorised batters throughout his career and reshaped fast bowling worldwide. Today, he is equally respected as a highly engaging and entertaining guest speaker, captivating audiences with his humour, honesty, and remarkable stories from the game, making him as compelling off the field as he once was on it.

Afghanistan War Memorial Garden

42for42 is a not-for-profit organisation which was founded by ex-Army veterans whose aim is to help struggling veterans and their families by building a memorial dedicated to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The 42 stands for the 41 soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan, with the 42nd representing the soldiers we have lost and continue to lose to su***de, and those who have returned with injuries and mental illness.

It is our vision and mission to build a Memorial Garden in the grounds of Suncorp Stadium beside the Anglican Church of Australia. This is a wonderful opportunity to show your pride, respect and honour to those that have fallen and walk tall beside their families and brothers-in-arms.
