Westerfolds junior parkrun

junior parkrun is a series of 2km runs for children aged between 4 and 14. They are open to all, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

👏 Well done to our 131 juniors today. It’s always fantastic to see so many of you returning each week, and a very warm welcome to our 20 first timers - we hope you loved your walk/run and will be back again soon!

🥳 Huge congratulations to the 24 juniors who achieved a Personal Best and those of you who celebrated a milestone. Don’t forget: if you’ve reached a milestone in a previous week but haven’t collected your wristband yet, you can pick one up at a future event.

🙏 A massive thank you to our 23 amazing volunteers who made this morning possible. We couldn’t do it without you! There are plenty of spots on our roster in the coming weeks - if you have an active Working with Children's Check and would like to help out, we’d love to hear from you.

See you all next Sunday for more smiles, high fives, and finish line fun!

CANCELLATION REMINDER 23/08

Hi Westerfolds junior parkrun community! Don't forget as previously mentioned we are cancelled this week due to another event in the park.

It was a chilly morning but we still had 137 junior parkrunners cross the finish line.

Big thanks to the 22 volunteers - let us know if you want to help out in future. All roles and fun and easy. You just need a working with children check linked to parkrun to join in.

Reminder we will not have an event next week due to the Yarra River Running Festival being held next Sunday.

Our friends at Aintree Reserve junior parkrun will still be on if you want to do some junior parkrun tourism

Happy junior parkrun day - we did well to avoid the rain. Token sorting had to be abandoned due to gusts of winds 😂
Well done to the 81 finishers and thanks to the 21 volunteers for a great morning.

Well done to the 95 juniors who joined us for parkrun this week! That included 5 juniors who ran for the first time, and 16 who got new PBs. Congrats also to everyone who achieved a milestone. We hope to see you all next week!

We have exciting news about junior parkrun milestones!

junior parkrun milestones across the world have a refreshed look and increased opportunities to earn a free wristband. All milestones are exclusive to junior parkrun for juniors who walk/run and volunteer on Sundays. Every milestone number applies to run/walk and volunteering, as always we will call out in the briefing and you can collect your wristband based on the honour system.

These milestones do not apply retrospectively so please only claim a wristband for your next milestone to keep it fair for everyone.

If you reach one of the distance based milestones (half marathon, marathon etc.) we can still award you those wristbands until they run out but we won't be getting more stock of them.

There are also tshirts available to buy which you can order through through the parkrun Australia shop.

Please don't hesitate to ask the run director if you have any questions about the changes.

Attention junior parkrunners! Important information regarding a FUTURE cancellation.

Just giving you all a heads up that junior parkrun will be cancelled on Sunday 23rd August due to another event in the park.

They have been very willing to work with us but it will be a big event and it is our responsibility to share the park safely so we have made the decision to cancel, hopefully with enough notice that you might choose to go on a little Sunday road trip and join our friends at Aintree Reserve junior parkrun.

We will be on as usual otherwise but if we ever do need to cancel you will see it here first, on the parkrun app and on our roster page (where incidentally you can see any roster vacancies of you would like to help out in coming weeks).

Besides the end of school holidays 92 junior parkrunners ventured out to Westerfolds Junior parkrun on a clear fine morning.

Nearly 100 kids made it to Westerfolds Junior parkrun in their holidays this morning.
Welcome to the 14 participants who came along for the very first time - hope we will see you again.
15 new PBs were achieved.
Some reached specific milestones - congratulations! If you forgot to pick up your milestone wrist band, don’t worry, you will still be able to collect it next time.

Finally a big thank you to all the volunteers; without them this event wouldn’t have been possible!
We always welcome new volunteers. You only need to get a Working With Children Check and link it to parkrun.
