TACCO Place-Based Partnerships

TACCO Place-Based Partnerships Closing the Gap locally for Aboriginal people in the Tamworth LGA 🤝 Who is TACCO?

TACCO (Tamworth Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations) is a coalition of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations working together to amplify our voices, drive real change, and build a stronger future for our community. From cultural events to strategic partnerships, TACCO is here to support, advocate, and create opportunities that honour our heritage and empower our people.

10/06/2026

The Crown Land Management Amendment (Statutory Review) Bill 2026 is another example of Aboriginal people being excluded from government decisions that directly impact our rights, interests, and futures.

This cannot continue.

If passed, this Bill will further erode Land Rights despite no meaningful consultation with Aboriginal people, Communities, or representative organisations before its introduction.

NSWALC is calling on the Government to listen to Aboriginal voices and ensure Aboriginal people are involved in decisions that directly affect our lives, our Communities, and our future generations.

Have Your Say. Stand Up for Land Rights. Sign the petition today.

🌟 Student Spotlight – Meet Our School-Based Administration Trainees! 🌟

Today we're proud to introduce another three of our amazing School-Based Trainees (SBATs), all of whom attend Peel High School and have previously participated in programs delivered through the Opportunity Hub.

👏 Left to Right:
Darius Johnston – working alongside TACCO
Brianee Cran – working alongside the Bumbira Arts & Culture Program
Jarleyah Lamb – working alongside the Opportunity Hub and TLALC Administration

These deadly students are currently completing a Certificate II in Workplace Skills while undertaking their roles as Administration Trainees with the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council, all while balancing their high school studies.

Their commitment, growth, and willingness to take on new opportunities has been fantastic to see, and we're excited to support them on their journey over the next two years.

We are incredibly proud to have them on board and can't wait to see what they achieve throughout their traineeships. 💙
Keep an eye on the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council page for updates as they continue to learn, grow, and build valuable skills for their future careers.

At 11:30 today, Land Councils and supporters from right across NSW are taking to the streets in Sydney to stand up against proposed changes to the Crown Lands Bill - changes that risk eroding, and potentially reversing, the hard-won progress of the past 43 years under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act.

We’re proud that representatives from the NSW Aboriginal Land Council are there, marching alongside communities from across the state. Closer to home, we stand in solidarity and continue to support this important cause at a local level.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has come into the office this morning to show their support. Your presence matters, and your voices are part of something bigger. 🖤💛❤️

🚨 Hands Off Our Land Rights — Our Fight Continues 🚨

The Crown Lands Management Amendment (Statutory Review) Bill 2026 is not reform — its a step backwards. They threaten to weaken hard-fought rights and open the door to greater control of our land without proper consent.

We will not accept decisions made about us, without us.
