Tonight is Census Night!

Our people worked hard for the right to be counted through the 1967 referendum, and today that count helps drive advocacy for the services, programs and funding our communities need.

When filling out your Census tonight, make sure you: ✅ Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. ✅ Include any Aboriginal languages spoken at home and encourage your family and community members to do the same.

Our languages are a vital part of who we are, and Census data helps demonstrate the ongoing strength and importance of our languages and cultures.

The Tamworth Business Chamber’s City of Lights Festival is coming to Tamworth on 25 & 26 September 2026, and they’re seeking Expressions of Interest from local Aboriginal performers and musicians to be part of this exciting new event.

This initiative is proudly supported by TACCO, celebrating First Nations culture, storytelling and talent as part of the festival’s Land and Light theme.

A special thank you to our TACCO members and their dedicated staff who looked after our Elders and made the Family Fun Day possible: Birrelee MACS, TAMS-AC, Burrun Dalai, AECG and Tamworth LALC.

Thank you Uncle Len for our welcome and smoking. Uncle Buddy for the entertainment. Marc Sutherland for always supporting our people and community in any way possible.

Shout out to the NAIDOC committee who have worked tirelessly throughout the year to make this week special.

But most of all thank you to our Elders and our community and those in the background who work hard for our people day in and day out.
