All the latest info on Bird Flu (H5N1) is here: birdlife.org.au/h5n1-avian-influenza/ — including a recent webinar worth watching.

It’s a serious threat to birds and mammals, including people. Over 17,000 elephant seals have died on Antarctic islands, and it’s now found in penguins on Heard Island. It spreads through seabirds and can infect mammals. Australia is the only continent still free of it, and while parrots don’t seem affected, we all need to stay alert.

If you see sick or dead birds (especially waterbirds around dams and rivers), please be careful and report it to the hotline: 1800 675 888.

Stay aware and keep our wildlife safe. 🐦❗

Karwin and Bareki safely removed a snake from the wallaby enclosure at the Tamworth Marsupial Park today. Great teamwork keeping our wildlife — and the visitors — safe!

Pictured is Karwin releasing the red belly black. 👏🏽
