VIIULIANSAMBEL VÕLUKEELED

Võlukeeled sündis 2012. aastal Tallinna Vanalinna Muusikamajas, kui viiuliõpetaja Tereza Šmerlingi õpilased hakkasid ansamblis koos mängima. Klassiruumist alguse saanud ideest on kasvanud ansambel, mis on lennutanud 30 noort muusikut Royal Albert Halli, Lincoln Centerisse ja Firenze basiilikatesse.

Tänapäeval koondab ansambel 32 noort muusikut, keda klaveril saadab Karin Suss.

🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪

Võlukeeled was founded in 2012 at the Tallinn Old Town Music House, when violin teacher Tereza Šmerling’s students began playing together as an ensemble. What began as an idea in a classroom has grown into an ensemble that has taken 30 young musicians to the Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center, and the basilicas of Florence.

Today, the ensemble brings together 32 young musicians, accompanied on piano by Karin Suss. The ensemble’s repertoire defies a single genre—classical, folk, film music, and even pop songs are often featured in the same concert. They perform with equal dedication at both baby music concerts and gala concerts.

In Estonia, Võlukeeled has performed at the Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn Town Hall Square, Kadriorg Palace, and Lennusadam, and has participated in ETV charity projects, including “Jõulutunnel,” to name just a few.

Outside of Estonia, the ensemble has toured throughout Europe, North America, and Australia, performing at events such as the Sydney Estonian Days and international festivals in Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Greece, Latvia, Finland, Indonesia, and elsewhere.

Thirteen members of the ensemble are also laureates of the Tallinn Talent competition and other international contests.

LIINA PUUSEPPTere!
27/10/2026

LIINA PUUSEPP

Tere!

🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪

G’day, I’m Liina – a designer, marketer and graduate of the Estonian Academy of Arts, dusting off my paintbrushes for this year’s Estonian Days!

I studied graphic design at the Estonian Academy of Arts and spent years working as a designer. For the past decade, I’ve called Adelaide home, working in digital marketing and communications, helping build greater understanding of Australia’s First Nations cultures, histories and perspectives. Both professionally and creatively, I’m drawn to how art, storytelling and cultural heritage can help us better understand one another and the world around us.

Art school taught me that a painting doesn’t have to be perfect to be something special. So, whether you’ve painted before or have never picked up a brush, everyone’s welcome. All you need is a willingness to give it a go, have a laugh and let your creativity flow.

My workshop brings together two things close to my heart: culture and the joy of creating together. We’ll paint our own unique portraits, share stories about Estonia, have a chat in Estonian and head home with a piece of art that will hopefully bring a smile to your face long after the day is over.

JERICHO

🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪

Jericho is a young band based in Sydney whose music blends indie, alternative, and contemporary rock.
Their music features both an ethereal and contemplative atmosphere and a powerful energy that really comes through during their live performances.

The band began as a group of friends who met at Rouse Hill High School and whose shared interest in music quickly brought them together to make music as a band. Jericho’s lineup consists of Robin Kristofer Kukk (vocals/guitar), Darragh Gammell (bass), and Hayden Samuels (drums).

Robin and Hayden are currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, which is lending the band’s sound ever-greater depth and maturity. Jericho is a band that is steadily building its audience, with music that is sincere, direct, and open to new ideas.

At the Sydney Estonian Days, Jericho will take the stage with their unique sound, offering the audience a fresh and memorable live experience.

KODU KAJA

Kodu Kaja, Melbourne’i Eesti Seltsi naiskoor, kannab edasi Eesti rikkalikku ja kestvat koorilaulutraditsiooni, hoides Eesti muusikapärandit elavana Austraalias.

Eriliseks tähiseks kujunes 2025. aasta, mil Kodu Kaja esines esimest korda valik naisrühma koosseisus Eesti laulupeol Tallinnas.

🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪🇪

Kodu Kaja, the Melbourne Estonian Society women’s choir, carries forward Estonia’s rich and enduring choral tradition, keeping the musical heritage of Estonia alive in Australia. The choir was formed in 1959 as the Melbourne Estonian Society “Kodu” women’s choir by Estonian women who had migrated to Australia following the Second World War. United by a deep connection to their homeland and a desire to preserve the heritage for future generations, they established a musical tradition that has continued for more than six decades.

The enduring strength of this tradition is reflected in the several mother-and-daughter pairs who sing side by side in the choir today, sharing not only a love of music but also a living connection to their Estonian roots.

Kodu Kaja performs regularly within Melbourne’s Estonian and wider Baltic communities, and also shares Estonian choral music with audiences beyond the community. The choir’s repertoire encompasses both traditional and contemporary Estonian music, reflecting the breadth and vitality of Estonia’s choral heritage. Through song, Kodu Kaja continues to connect generations, celebrate Estonian identity and culture, and share the beauty of Estonian music.

A special milestone came in 2025, when Kodu Kaja performed for the first time as part of the select women’s choir at the Estonian Song Festival in Tallinn. To sing in Estonia, surrounded by thousands of singers and immersed in the country’s great choral tradition, was a truly significant honour and a memorable moment in the choir’s history.

02/10/2026

HÄNIKE SEGAKOOR

Hänike on küla Lõuna-Eestis, mille järgi sai nime kunagine Eesti Õpilasmaleva (EÕM) rühm.

----------------------------------------------

HÄNIKE MIXED CHOIR

Hänike is a village in Southern Estonia, after which a former Estonian Student Brigade (EÕM) group was named. Hänike mixed choir consists mainly of former Hänike brigade members from across various years, but singers from other EÕM groups and general choir music lovers have also joined the choir.

The main conductors of the Hänike mixed choir are Annika Land-Reisser, Lauri Aav, and Veikko Lehto, alongside several other musically educated people in the choir. In addition, former brigade leaders with conducting experience—Heikki Põhi and composer Priit Pajusaar, under whose initiative the Hänike group was first assembled in 1983 with the principle that they should have fun themselves—help out.

In 2012, 20 years had passed since the final summer for the Hänike group, and this was celebrated with a lively reunion of former brigade members. Out of a couple of hundred young people who spent summers full of farm work in the Hänike brigade group over a ten-year period (1983–1992), more than eighty were present. The reunion turned out to be a high-tech time machine—conversations and songs picked up right where they had left off, and many musically talented young people had become musical, music-loving adults. Everyone still had a great time together.

In such an inspiring atmosphere A.D. 2012, the decision was born to found the Hänike Society, which also gave birth to the Hänike mixed choir. Today, there are about 40 singers from all over Estonia in the ranks of the Hänike mixed choir, and activities have continued with regular society life, choir rehearsals, and performances in various parts of Estonia, at three General Song Festivals, the Nordic-Baltic Choir Festival, island song festivals, and many other places.
