SWOP SWOP NSW exists to provide NSW s*x workers with the same access to health, safety, human rights and workplace protections as other Australian workers.

SWOP provides a private and confidential service open to all people who engage in s*x work, including everyone providing s*x for cash, favours, drugs, clothing, a place to stay, alcohol or anything else, either often, or on occasion. We have multicultural and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander projects, and support s*x workers from a range of backgrounds. SWOP also provides training to service providers, including s*xual health services, WorkCover, needle syringe programs and NSW police in order to improve s*x workers access to these services and create better understanding of s*x worker issues. Outreach is conducted both day and night to s*x industry workplaces, including massage and full-service brothels, B&D houses, strip clubs, private workers, safe houses and street s*x work locations. You can call SWOP or drop in to the office for a confidential chat with a s*x worker peer who knows the industry and issues. Phone: (02) 9184 9466

Trans Collective! The first in our quarterly meet up for trans and gender diverse SWers to come together and create!

This is a workshop for trans and gender diverse s*x workers, to bring together our community and provide space for our art and our voices to be amplified... in zine form!

We will make art and set out a design for a trans s*x worker zine series that we will contribute to regularly.

S*x Workers Only. Registration required. Follow the link in our bio to register.

Are you feeling the effects of isolation and loneliness in your life or at work? What would it be like to talk about it with a group of people who could be experiencing something similar?

**This Wednesday**

Come and spend a couple of hours with SWOP counsellors Rachael and Suzanne to talk about togetherness, isolation, loneliness and connection.

When we feel disconnected, it isn't always due to something coming from the inside. Sometimes there are conditions in our lives that we can create strategies for.

Let's find some together.

We’ll spend our time journalling, having a yarn (chats, not stitch), doing activities and sharing ideas.

October is Mental Health Month. In NSW, this year’s theme is “A little connection goes a long way.” But connection can be complicated in our working world. Which is a little bit ironic come to think of it, given our work is all about making connection!

But isolation doesn’t always look like an absence of connection or sitting at home alone. You can be working, talking, working, working it, texting, seeing people all the time and still feel disconnected. And sometimes the answer isn’t simply to get out more.

So, for Mental Health Month, we’re going to be talking about the things that can construct isolation around us, and what might actually help.

SWOP NSW counsellors Rachael and Suzanne will be holding a workshop on Isolation + Loneliness this Wednesday 14 October.
It will include discussion, journalling, activities, information and skill sharing, in a group - together, not alone!

Current and former s*x workers only. Registration required (link in bio).

Our SMART Recovery meeting is on today from 3pm-4.30pm. Making changes around drugs and alcohol can be tricky to do on your own. So, we run a SMART Recovery meeting each month for SWers, run by peers. If you have any habits you'd like to change your relationship to, come along. We set our own goals and move at your own pace. We just provide support for you on the journey. You can register via the link in bio.

Even the crew at SWOP HQ need to sit down, share ideas and collaborate across the table once in a while. Which is why we're closed every second Wednesday from 10am-2pm. You can still reach us via email or phone, or pop in later in the day. We also have a HE/THEY pop in on Thursday - see our previous posts for details :)
