Jacks place Foundation

Jacks place Foundation We're not just building a facility - we're building a national shift in how we respond to su***de crisis.

jacks place Foundation aims to establish Australia’s first purpose-built, 24/7
su***de prevention facility set in a natural location specifically chosen for its
calming and restorative environment. While there are existing programs, no dedicated facility operates around
the clock to support individuals at imminent risk of su***de. Currently, the
only option for those in crisis is public mental hea

lth services, which face
overwhelming demand and significant systemic challenges. jacks place
seeks to fill this critical gap by creating a safe, therapeutic environment
designed specifically for su***de prevention. At the heart of this initiative is the integration of lived experience into every
aspect of the project. From the design of the facility to the implementation
of its programs, lived experience informs every decision. This ensures that
jacks place will offer compassionate, real-world solutions tailored to those
in crisis. Our future workforce will also reflect this approach, with team
members who bring first hand knowledge and understanding of the journey
through su***de risk and mental health struggles. jacks place will be an evidence-based, therapeutic facility, offering
comprehensive response to su***de prevention. The location is equally
important, as the natural, calming setting is designed to enhance the
therapeutic care provided, ensuring the best possible outcomes. With the right support and investment, this vision can become a reality,
offering a lifeline to those who need it most and filling a critical gap in
Australia’s mental health landscape. We invite you to join us in making this
life-saving initiative possible.

Men’s Health Month - Because Men Deserve Spaces Where They Don’t Have to Be “Fine”
June is Men’s Health Month - a reminder that behind the jokes, the busyness, and the “yeah, I’m all good,” many men are carrying far more than they ever say out loud.

For generations, men have been taught to push through, stay strong, keep it together.
But strength isn’t silence.
Strength is honesty.
Strength is connection.
Strength is knowing you don’t have to carry everything alone.

This month, we’re honouring the real stories - the ones that don’t always get told: men who show up for work, family, and community while quietly battling stress, grief, or burnout men who want to open up but don’t now where to start men who’ve been told to “toughen up” when what they really needed was someone to listen men who are rebuilding their health - physical, mental, emotional - one small step at a time Men’s Health Month isn’t about perfection.
It’s about permission - to slow down, to check in, to ask for help, to take your wellbeing seriously.

Because when men feel safe to talk, to rest, to be human, everything changes - for them, for their families, and for their communities.
This June, let’s make space for real conversations. Let’s normalise support.
Let’s remind the men in our lives - and ourselves - that looking after your health isn’t weakness. It’s leadership.

💚A huge shout‑out to Craig and Sonia of Arkell & Co for their incredible generosity and heart. Arkell and Co.

Their 'Selling to Support' campaign raised an amazing $1,500 for jacks place - a contribution that genuinely moves us closer to building Australia’s first 24/7 residential su***de‑prevention facility. This kind of community‑driven support is what keeps the momentum alive.

And a very special thank you to Regina, who chose jacks place as the beneficiary of this campaign. Your belief in our mission, and your willingness to stand with us, means everything to us.

Every act of support - every fundraiser, every donation, every person who chooses jacks place - helps build a future where people in crisis have somewhere safe to land, day or night.

If you’re reading this and thinking, I’d love to do something like that, we’d love to hear from you.
Whether it’s a workplace initiative, a community event, a personal challenge, or a creative idea of your own - your support can make a real and lasting impact.

Regina, Craig, Sonia and Arkell & Co - thank you for helping us create something life‑changing.
We’re so grateful to have you in our corner. 💚

🪴One of the most protective things we can offer someone in crisis is the feeling of being truly witnessed.

Not analysed.
Not fixed.
Not rushed.
Just seen - as they are, in that moment.

When someone is experiencing suicidal distress, the world can feel painfully small. Thoughts loop. Options disappear. It can feel like no one notices, no one understands, no one is really there.

Being witnessed doesn’t solve everything - but it opens a door.
It creates space for breath.
It softens the edges of isolation.
It reminds a person that they matter enough for someone to stay.

At jacks place, this is at the heart of our model of care.
We’re building a place where people in crisis are not left alone with their pain.
Where they are met with presence, not pressure.
Where their experience is honoured, not dismissed.

Because sometimes the most life‑changing moment isn’t a grand intervention - it’s simply being seen.

And every person deserves that.
But something shifts when a person feels witnessed with compassion.
When someone sits beside them without judgement.
When their pain is acknowledged instead of minimised.
When their story is met with gentleness instead of fear.🪴

💚As tax time approaches, we’re asking our community to consider supporting jacks place.
Every donation - big or small - helps us move closer to creating Australia’s first 24/7 residential su***de‑prevention facility. A place built on compassion, safety, and connection. A place where people in suicidal crisis can be held with dignity, not left to navigate their darkest moments alone.
For many people, the end of financial year is a chance to give with intention.
A chance to support something that truly matters.
A chance to help build something our country urgently needs.
If Jack’s story has touched you…
If you believe in early intervention…
If you want to help create a place where lives can be held and hope can be restored…
Your tax‑deductible donation can make a real difference.
Every dollar helps us take another step toward opening Jack’s Place.
And every share helps this mission reach someone who may be able to give.
Thank you for standing with us - for Jack, and for every person who deserves a safe place to land when life feels overwhelming.💚

There’s something powerful about the way animals meet us - without expectation, without judgement, without needing us to be anything other than who we are in that moment.
In mental health care, we often talk about connection, safety and regulation.
Animals embody all three in a way that feels instinctive.
They don’t rush us.
They don’t ask us to explain.
They don’t try to fix.
They simply co‑regulate - offering calm through presence, not pressure.

For someone experiencing suicidal distress, that kind of grounded, non‑verbal connection can be deeply stabilising. It reminds the nervous system that safety is possible. It reminds the body what it feels like to soften. It reminds the mind that connection doesn’t always require words.

At jacks place, we’re inspired by the therapeutic value animals bring to healing spaces. Not as a “cute extra,” but as a meaningful part of how humans reconnect with themselves and the world around them.

Because sometimes the most profound support comes from the quietest companions - the ones who sit beside us, breathe with us, and remind us that we’re still here, still worthy, still connected.

A gentle presence can change everything.
And in crisis, that presence can be life‑saving.

Agency matters - especially when life feels overwhelming.

When someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts, it can feel like their choices have narrowed to almost nothing. The world can shrink. Options can feel invisible. The sense of control that most people take for granted can feel out of reach.
At jacks place, we hold a different truth:
every person deserves to feel their agency again - gently, safely, and at their own pace.
Agency doesn’t mean making big decisions or having everything figured out.
Sometimes it looks like:
• choosing to speak
• choosing to rest
• choosing to stay in the room
• choosing to breathe through one more moment
• choosing connection over silence
• choosing support instead of carrying everything alone
These small choices matter.
They are signs of hope, signs of strength, signs of possibility.
Our model of care is built on the belief that people in crisis are not problems to be fixed - people deserve space, dignity, and the right to choose what feels safest for them.
When someone is supported to reconnect with their own agency, even in the smallest ways, something shifts.
Hope becomes possible again.
Options reappear.
Life expands.

jacks place will be a place where people are met with compassion, not control.
Where their choices are honoured.
Where their voice matters.
Where they can rediscover the sense of agency that suicidal distress can take away.

Because every person deserves to feel that they still have choices - and that their life is worth choosing.💚

Community is the heartbeat of jacks place.
Every conversation, every share, every fundraiser, every person who leans in - it all matters. It all builds momentum. It all brings us closer to creating Australia’s first 24/7 residential su***de‑prevention facility.

jacks place is being built by a community that refuses to look away.
A community that believes people in crisis deserve safety, dignity and connection.
A community that understands that change happens when we show up for each other.

When someone runs a marathon for us, when a local club invites us to speak, when a family shares Jack’s story, when someone donates the cost of a coffee - these moments stack. They become something bigger than any of us could create alone.

This is the power of community.
This is how movements begin.
This is how hope grows.

And as we continue building jacks place, we’re reminded every day that we’re not doing it alone.
We’re doing it together - for Jack, and for every person who needs a safe place to land when life feels overwhelming.

Last night we had the privilege of presenting jacks place Foundation to the Mooloolaba Rotary Club .

We shared Jack’s story, the vision for Australia’s first 24/7 residential su***de‑prevention facility, and the critical gap it will fill for people in crisis who need safety, connection and care.

The response was thoughtful, compassionate and deeply engaged.
The questions asked, the conversations sparked, and the genuine interest in understanding the need behind Jack’s Place reminded us why community matters so much in this work.

Moments like this - where people come together with open hearts and a willingness to learn - move the mission forward in ways that truly count.

A heartfelt thank you to the Mooloolaba Rotary Club for welcoming us, listening so generously, and standing with us as we work to build something Australia urgently needs.

Together, we can create a place where lives are held, hope is restored, and no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

A special shout out to Vicki Stewart for organising this for jacks place and for all her heartfelt support.

☕Mondays can arrive quietly - not dramatic, not overwhelming, just a gentle reminder that another week is beginning.
And in that quiet, the smallest gestures can land with surprising weight. A kind word. A small note. A moment of care. Tiny reminders that we’re not moving through the world alone.

At jacks place, we see every day how much these small messages matter.
For someone carrying more than they’re saying, a few thoughtful words can soften the edges of a hard moment. They can shift the tone of a whole day.

So as this new week begins, if you have the space, send a small message to someone you care about.
It doesn’t need to be big or poetic - just real.

And if today feels heavy for you, here’s your reminder:
You matter. You’re doing your best. One gentle step at a time is enough.
