🌟 A Moment of Pride for the SCKA Community! 🌟

The SCKA Committee is delighted to congratulate Sindhu on her remarkable act of professionalism, compassion and dedication while serving as a Clinical Nurse on the Medical Emergency Team (MET) at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

👏 Congratulations, Sindhu! Your dedication and commitment to caring for others are truly inspiring. We are proud to celebrate your achievement and wish you continued success in your professional journey.

“I made the decision to assist with the birth right there in the car park.” 🚗

Sindhu is a Clinical Nurse on our Medical Emergency Team (MET), which means she responds rapidly to urgent calls to help deteriorating patients.

One of these calls involved a mother in active labour in Sunshine Coast University Hospital’s car park. It was clear the situation was urgent and there wouldn’t be enough time to safely transfer her to the maternity ward before the baby arrived.

“I safely delivered the baby into my hands, ensured the airway was clear, stimulated the baby, and was relieved to hear the baby cry almost immediately.”

We’re grateful for our MET, whose calm presence, considered decisions and clinical expertise bring care and reassurance to our community during some really stressful experiences. ❤️

A Proud Moment for SCKA!

Dear SCKA Community,

We are delighted to share that Sunshine Coast Kerala Association (SCKA) has been awarded the 2026 Caloundra Community Award – COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE YEAR!

This recognition belongs to each and every member of our SCKA family. It celebrates the incredible commitment of our volunteers, families, past and present committee members, performers, teachers, supporters and everyone who has contributed their time and energy to our community.

From Onam/ARAVAM, Padippura, Family Fun & Sports Day, Grandparents Day, the All Australia Dance Competition, and many other initiatives, we have always worked towards one goal — bringing people together, preserving our culture and contributing positively to the wider multicultural Sunshine Coast community.
