🌸 Club Meeting Reminder – This Saturday! 🌸

Don't forget, our monthly Sunshine Coast Orchid Society Caloundra meeting is on tomorrow, Saturday 20 June, commencing at 1pm at the CCSA Hall, Nutley Street, Caloundra.

This month, Master Grower Michael Py, will be sharing his knowledge on the use of pH and TDS meters and why they can be valuable tools for orchid growers.

Many growers have heard of pH and TDS meters, but are unsure how to use them or whether they are worth the investment. Michael will explain what they measure, how they can help you better understand your water and fertiliser, and how they can contribute to healthier, stronger plants.

As many members already know, Michael and Betty regularly produce outstanding award-winning orchids, making this a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of our club's most accomplished growers.

As always, we'll also enjoy our monthly plant judging, catch up with fellow members, and admire the beautiful orchids currently in flower.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced grower, this is a meeting you won't want to miss.

🌭 Bunnings Sausage Sizzle – This Sunday! 🌭

The Sunshine Coast Orchid Society Caloundra crew will be at Bunnings Caloundra this Sunday, 31 May, cooking up a storm and we’d love to see you there!

If you’re heading to Bunnings for a weekend project, gardening supplies or simply a wander, pop by and say hello. Every purchase helps support our club and allows us to continue sharing the love of orchids across the Sunshine Coast community. 🌸

Our May Interested Growers Group meeting was a real treat, with members enjoying a wonderful morning at Red Fox Orchids. 🌿🌸

The gathering was very well attended, with members appreciating the opportunity to spend time together surrounded by beautiful orchids, great conversation and plenty of inspiration.

A big thank you to Kurt and Jen for welcoming our group so warmly and generously hosting the visit. After enjoying a cuppa and catch-up together, members were treated to an informative and engaging talk from Kurt, who shared his knowledge, growing experiences and insights into orchid culture.

From the beautiful plants to the friendly atmosphere, it was a thoroughly enjoyable morning and a lovely reminder of how much we learn from sharing our passion for orchids with others.

Thank you again to RedFox Orchids for having us — it was well worth the visit! 🌺

Guest speaker at our monthly meeting last week was one of our very own Master Growers, Kay Jorgensen. 🌸

It has been wonderful to welcome Kay back after her year-long adventure travelling around Australia with her son and family. While Kay has been growing orchids for a few years now, she has certainly made her mark as a creative grower who isn’t afraid to think outside the square.

Driftwood, shells, coral, tea light holders — if it looks interesting, Kay is willing to give it a go and see what thrives! Her presentation was a refreshing reminder that orchid growing doesn’t always have to be about black pots and show benches. Sometimes it’s simply about the joy orchids bring us and the creativity they inspire.

Kay shared not only her knowledge, but also her passion for experimenting, learning and enjoying orchids in unique and beautiful ways. It was inspiring, fun and a wonderful encouragement for us all to look at our orchids a little differently.

Thank you Kay for sharing your ideas, experience and enthusiasm with us. 🌿

🌸 Cultural Meeting – This Saturday! 🌸

After the excitement and success of our annual 'Orchids in April' Show, we’re looking forward to gathering again this Saturday for our monthly Cultural Meeting at the CCSA Hall, Nutley Street, Caloundra, starting at 1pm.

This meeting is always a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with fellow orchid lovers, share what’s been happening in our growing spaces and enjoy the beauty of the many orchids now flowering in late autumn. 🍂🌺

If you’ve ever been curious about orchids or wondered what our club is all about, we’d especially love to welcome you along for the first time. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been growing orchids for years, you’ll find a friendly group happy to share knowledge, stories and a love of these amazing plants.
