The more opportunities for disabled artists to present work and be seen the better.
We are so thrilled that Burnout Ballet was featured in The Ulumbarra Foundation's call out for partners. The Ulumbarra Foundation made it possible for us perform Burnout Ballet at The Engine Room in December 2025. Here's some of their beautiful words:
"During Burnout Ballet last December, there’s a moment where the performers take over the stage—it’s chaotic, fun and full of energy.
One performer steps into the role of a rebel—pushing boundaries, completely in control of the space.
The audience laughs. Then leans in.
Because what they’re seeing isn’t just performance. It’s someone experiencing a kind of freedom, learning new skills, building confidence—and being seen differently.
You see, roles like this are rarely offered on stage to performers with disability. Here, they were not only possible—they were celebrated.That doesn’t happen by accident.
Burnout Ballet, created in Bendigo by CreateA, received an Ulumbarra Foundation grant to bring together local artists, audiences, and stories in a way that was bold, unexpected, and deeply human.
It created paid work for local creative professionals. And it gave nine talented performers with disability the opportunity to perform at a professional level in front of an audience.
It sparked new conversations about who gets to be seen—and how."
