Dear Friends,

From 16–22 March Australia celebrates Harmony Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the many cultures that make our community stronger. The message is simple: Everyone Belongs.

At GUIH, as we serve through our ‘Weekly Wednesday Community Meal Kitchen’ from ‘ 531 Elizabeth Drive, Sunbury’ and homelessness outreach we see this diversity every day.

Our theme this year is: “One Community, Many Cultures.”

Through sharing food, conversation and kindness, we create a welcoming space where people from different backgrounds feel respected, valued and connected.

If possible, guest attending this Wednesday 18th March 2026 are encouraged to wear a touch of orange, the colour of Harmony and celebrate the diversity that enriches our community.

Thank you for being part of GUIH who are striving to be inclusive as we all are one family.

Dear Sunbury Community, Happy New Year!

We are grateful to share that this is our second year of operations at the Sunbury Community Centre.

GUIH Charity runs a free Wednesday Community Meal Kitchen open to everyone. It is a welcoming space where people can enjoy a meal, connect with others, and not feel alone. Everyone belongs here — we do not judge anyone.

We are thankful for pantry donations received from Rosenthal Woolworths (where our donation box is located near their notice board), as well as support from colleagues and sponsors. These donations are shared with guests who attend our community kitchen.

We currently need more volunteers — especially for set-up support.
If you are able to help, please speak with me at the Wednesday Kitchen between 5:30–6:00 PM.

Donations above $2 made through our website (guih.org) are tax-deductible.

If you know someone who may be isolated or struggling behind closed doors, please invite them to visit our Wednesday Kitchen. We have a social worker and a community worker on site who are happy to listen, understand needs, and help make a positive difference.

Everyone is welcome. 🤝

Since June 2021, GUIH has served the homeless people on the streets of Melbourne. We exist to provide those in need with a sense of hope, and to let them know that they are not alone during times of difficulty.

GUIH Wednesday kitchen is reopening this 11th Feb at the Sunbury Community Centre on Elizabeth Street.

All are welcome for a free meal between 6 to 7PM every week.
