We’re joining the .aus People’s Blockade of the world’s largest coal port in Newcastle!

Time is short and the stakes could not be higher. Australia’s fossil fuel addiction is driving the world to the brink. We need to step up our defence of the climate by joining together to take mass direct action against the biggest threat to our future.

Newcastle ships out 12% of total global coal exports and when burned contributes to 1% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

The event is held in Newcastle Port at Camp Shoreland and is a direct action protest where activists kayak into the port in an attempt to block coal ships. As well, the weekend is packed full of educational meetings, music, and other activities. People can attend for one day, camp in the park with their own gear, or organise accommodation in Newcastle.

If you’re interested in coming along, register your interest through the form linked in our bio!

The Office Bearers of the University of Sydney SRC oppose the proposed policies that would effectively end free political speech on campus. We call on the University to repeal the Campus Access Policy in full, assure us that they will not implement the proposed policies, and make a robust commitment to protect free speech and other basic political freedoms on their campuses.

At Rising Tide's snap action this morning outside of Transport Minister Jo Haylen's office!

Outrageously Transport NSW has imposed an exclusion zone over the Newcastle Harbour ahead of the Port Blockade protest this weekend, an attempt to deter protestors and give more powers to police.

More proof that the Labor government is on the side of coal bosses and the fossil fuel industry!

We won't let this stop us. The protest will continue this weekend and together we can show the power that people have when we stand together for the climate and our futures! 🌍

If you can come to the port blockade this weekend and want to meet up with other Sydney students sign up via our form in the bio! 🌱🌱
