At Thrive Hub Seymour, we are proud to see a shift away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ model towards more personalised, strengths-based support that recognises the real barriers people face.

We are especially proud of the contributions made by The SEED Project, SEED members and Experts by Experience, the Women’s Financial Wellbeing Committee Investment Committee, and our local service provider partners. Their lived experience and insight have helped shape the evidence base driving reforms like these.

The Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), along with others in the sector, has long been calling for an overhaul of Australia’s employment services system. Today, we welcome the Federal Government’s once-in-a-generation commitment to reform - moving away from a ‘one-size-fits-all' model towards more personalised, tailored and effective support for people facing barriers to work.

We particularly welcome the shift to tailored service streams with a stronger focus on capability, confidence and connection as well as changes to ease mutual obligations. We acknowledge the Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee for their recommendations and expertise which have positively informed today's announcement.

For too long, BSL has argued that compliance-heavy requirements can be cruel and ultimately ineffective.

🥣 Who Actually Does the Dishes?
(And who remembers they need doing?)

Ever had this moment?

👉 Dinner’s finished.
👉 The dishes are “someone else’s job.”
👉 But somehow you’re the one noticing the sink, planning when it’ll get done, reminding, following up… again.

It’s not just about dishes.

It’s about the invisible work that keeps households running - the planning, remembering, organising, coordinating, and emotional work that often goes unnoticed.

Who Does the Dishes? is a practical, judgement‑free workshop that helps households:
✔️ Make invisible care work visible
✔️ Talk about fairness without blame or conflict
✔️ Understand mental load (and why it’s exhausting)
✔️ Find realistic, fairer ways to share the load — for your household

This workshop isn’t about doing everything 50/50.
It’s about finding what’s fair, sustainable, and supportive - so everyone has time for rest, work, connection, and life.

Whether you live with a partner, kids, housemates, or family - if you’ve ever felt stretched, resentful, or overwhelmed at home, this one’s for you.
