Remembering Albert “Bert” Fell

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our much-loved member and friend, Albert “Bert” Fell.

For more than 50 years, Bert proudly served with the SA Country Fire Service, dedicating countless hours to his brigade, his fellow members, and the community he cared so deeply about.

Bert was one of a kind — a true character who could always be relied upon to bring a smile, share a story, or entertain us with one of his famous siren noises. His kindness, good humour, reliability and unwavering commitment made him a valued member of our CFS family.

While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind. Generations of members have had the privilege of knowing Bert, working alongside him and calling him a friend.

Thank you, Bert, for more than 50 years of service, friendship and memories. Your contribution to our brigade and community will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences are extended to Bert’s family, friends, fellow CFS members and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest easy, Bert. 🚒❤️

🚒 Seaford CFS Takes on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb! 🚒

This year, four dedicated members of the Seaford CFS Brigade will be stepping up to the challenge and participating in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.

The Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb is an incredible event that brings together firefighters and emergency service personnel from across Australia to raise much-needed funds and awareness for important causes. In 2026, funds raised will support the work of Lifeline, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, the Black Dog Institute, and several other charities that provide vital support to Australians and emergency service workers.

Our team will be pushing themselves to climb thousands of stairs in full firefighting gear, all while raising money for these worthy causes.

We are incredibly proud of our members taking on this challenge and would love your support. Every donation, big or small, helps make a difference and supports the important work of these foundations.

Congratulations to two of our very own cadets for completing their Basic Firefighting Course last week!

Throughout the course, our cadets learned about the different types emergencies the CFS responds to, the factors that influence fire behaviour, and the principles behind how our pumps and firefighting appliances operate. They also gained an introduction to road crash rescue, structural firefighting and hazardous materials (HazMat) incidents.

During the practical drills, they developed valuable firefighting skills, including:
• Draughting operations
• Setting up a controlled hose lay
• Replacing a damaged length of hose
• Using portable fire extinguishers during night-time live fire training
• And an understanding of response processes.

Our cadet leadership team have done a fantastic job of giving our cadets a stepping stone into the world of volunteering as a fire fighter providing them with the fundamentals of safely responding to all types of emergencies.

We look forward to welcoming our cadets into o our ranks in the future!

Standing with our friends and their families across the other side of the world today.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service is devastated to share that three wildland firefighters lost their lives on Saturday, June 27, as part of an interagency response to the Knowles and Gore fires along the Colorado-Utah border. Additionally, two crew members were injured in the line of duty and have been transported to a hospital.

Our immediate focus is on supporting their families, friends, and fellow crewmates during this incredibly difficult time.

The U.S. Wildland Fire Service stands united with the USDA Forest Service in grief and in our unwavering support for the loved ones left behind. Their bravery, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Additional details will be shared as they are able to be released.

This morning our members attended the Port Noarlunga Christies Beach RSL Dawn service with our long standing member Albert Fell laying a wreath on behalf of our brigade remembering our fallen brothers and sisters.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

​🚒 Introducing the "Seaford Super-Pumper" (Patent Pending)!
​This cutting-edge, ultra-high-performance appliance boasts:
💨 Mandatory 5-person pedal-power.
🥛 Zero Emissions (apart from when our captain drinks too many protein shakes).
💧 High-pressure hose attachments... powered by a giant bicycle pump we found in the shed.
🗺️ A maximum top speed of 12km/h (3km/h up a slight incline).
