We are delighted to share our recent Community of Practice session “Native Bush Foods and Traditional Medicinal Knowledge”, presented by Dr. Mani Naiker, Lead of the Wabu Cluster – First Nations Biodiversity and Application at the Jawun Research Institute, CQUniversity Australia
This inspiring session highlighted CQUniversity’s journey in building respectful partnerships with First Nations knowledge holders, such as Uncle Steve Kemp and the Woorabinda community, to explore the powerful potential of native bush foods and traditional medicines.
Dr. Naiker shared insights into how cultural wisdom and modern science can work hand in hand, unlocking opportunities for health, sustainability, and community-led enterprise while ensuring that Indigenous intellectual property and traditional knowledge remain protected.
