🌊 AIRLIE BEACH CLEAN-UP! 🚤♻️

Another huge effort from the Bamboo Projects crew, tackling marine debris in the beautiful Whitsundays! 💚

🚤 Over 400kg of rubbish removed!

📍 Shute Harbour was our biggest clean-up hotspot, with the majority of rubbish collected from here and the nearby islands.

🚁 We used our drone to scan surrounding islands, identify marine debris hotspots and plan our clean-ups to ensure efficient retrieval.

💪 Our crew worked hard to retrieve rubbish from areas that aren’t always easily accessible.

Kristy and Chris from are in the region today, helping care for our beautiful Whitsunday waterways! 🌊💚

Supported by the Environmental Cleanup and Local Conservation Grant Program, Bamboo Projects is delivering 12 cleanups over eight months around Shute Harbour, Whisper Bay and Port of Airlie.

The first two cleanups have already removed 320kg of rubbish, including a queen-sized mattress, and the crew is back out again today! ♻️

Alongside the environmental work, Bamboo Projects creates meaningful employment opportunities for people of all abilities, giving team members the chance to build skills, connect with others and contribute to caring for our region.

Thank you to Kristy, Chris and the Bamboo Projects crew for the work you’re doing for our waterways and our community. 👏

We met this young man at the Nurture_Festival back in 2023 🌊

Through our Eco-Ability Program, supported by the Queensland Government, he’s now joined the Bamboo Projects crew for supported employment over the school holidays💚

And he’s off to a great start with 120kg of marine debris collected from Golden Beach today! ♻️💪☺️

🌿 80+ kg of rubbish removed.

Our latest Eco-Ability waterway cleanup removed 80kg of rubbish, including 2 wheelie bins of waste, 30+ pieces of processed timber, a kayak, a boogie board, and over 50 cans and bottles.

Every cleanup also provides supported employment opportunities for people with disabilities, creating positive environmental and social outcomes at the same time. 💙

💙 This project is proudly funded through the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action Grants Program.

We’ll go to the top of the hill for you … literally ⛰️
Beautiful day heading out to our favourite Maleny Manor to swap their recycle bins and then we went to our local residences in the Glasshouse Mountains 🙌

We now service from Narangba to Coolum, so please let us know if you can support our charity programs with a recycle bin to collect 10c cans and bottles.

You fill it > we do the rest ♻️

Honoured to receive the Sustainability Champion Award at the Pumicestone Awards 🏆🌿

A huge thank you to Ariana Doolan MP for the recognition and ongoing support of our work in the community.

It was also great to catch up with QLD Premier David Crisafulli MP , Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery and Steve Minnikin MP and share more about our programs supporting people living with disabilities and mental health struggles 🚤♻️

We’d also like to thank Cr Brooke Savige, Councillor Mark Booth and Terry Young MP for believing in our vision years ago to help create meaningful employment opportunities for people living with disabilities 💙

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our community, volunteers and partners. Thank you for backing what we do 🙌

Hooks getting stuck in upholstery, sinkers banging on the boat and lures ending up where they shouldn’t… 🎣😅

Safety is always our number one priority on the water, which is why we trust the legends at to help protect our seats, upholstery and crew from stray hooks, lures and tackle. 🛥️🪝

Simple gear that makes a big difference when you spend a lot of time out on the water. 👌

Big thanks to the team at Rod Armour for helping keep our crew and the boat safer, cleaner and protected🔥
