We're delighted to welcome Kim Burns to Boroondara Ukulele Festival 2026 on July 4th!

Kim is not your ordinary, garden variety ukulele player!
Not only does she play a SWEET ukulele, she also plays U-Bass, double bass, the Celtic harpand a dash of guitar. She also plays and singsin an ukulele duo called Vintage Vixens, where she plays U-Bass and adds vocal interest with her lush harmonies.
Kim was the Musical Director of Goldfields Ukestra (Bendigo) for 7 years and saw the groupgrow from strength to strength with her classroom-style instruction.
Kim has 10 years of classroom music teaching experience in Special Education... so to say she knows how to differentiate and make her sessions accessible to all is an understatement!

Kim's workshop 'Ukestra Madness' will cater for all players, from beginner to advanced. All participants will have the opportunity to work through all three parts of a common tune from easiest (rhythm) to most challenging (picking). Everyone will then put the parts together and play as one big crazy Ukestra!

With the June 30 tax deadline fast approaching, there isn't a lot of time left to double your impact & share the joy of music-making with the next generation!

This EOFY we're raising funds to support Dream Big Youth Music Festival: a program that brings music-making and songwriting workshops to school students in Melbourne's West.

All donations in June are being matched, until we reach our goal of $15,000. Donate before June 30 to double your impact! https://cmvic.org.au/donations

We're delighted to welcome Chantelle Riordin to Boroondara Ukulele Festival 2026 on July 4th!

A true jazz enthusiast, Chantelle has a deep love for the Great American Songbook and a knack for storytelling that brings each song to life. Her performances range from charming and quirky to raw and thought-provoking — often all in one set.

She’s a regular on the festival circuit, having played at nearly all the major ukulele events across Australia, plus a handful of jazz festivals and community stages. Offstage, she’s a much-loved workshop presenter known for making musical learning fun, accessible, and inspiring.

She performs solo as Chantelle & Uke, or with her band Chantelle & the Cat Cartel!

Chantelle's workshop 'Jazz without the scary bits' will jazz down into simple, playable ideas that work for everyone — from beginners to seasoned players.

We're thrilled to welcome Margaret Crichton to Boroondara Ukulele Festival 2026 on July 4th! 🎵

Margaret started playing ukulele when she was ten! About ten years ago she started teaching ukulele classes at a Neighbourhood House.
Currently she has two choirs and seven ukulele classes; takes them to performances at ukulele and folk festivals, Senior’s Festival, shopping centres, markets, folk clubs, libraries, and nursing homes; teaches workshops at festivals and for other groups; leads the Festival Choir at Maldon Folk Festival; does arrangements with something for all levels of expertise and writes parodies!

Margaret will be leading the grand finale strum-along - your opportunity to try out some of the techniques learnt during the day on familiar tunes!
