Older Inkerman St residents dropped a giant banner from their homes yesterday. The banner reads “Public Housing not Private Profit”, a black and white message for the Victorian government to retain Public Housing and the Older Persons High Rise program.

Wow, tens of thousands of people protesting against the eviction of 87 year old María del Carmen Abascal in Madrid! What a fantastic show of solidarity against injustice!

Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Madrid to ask for protective measures for tenants, anti-fraud rules, and a ban on evictions without alternative housing.

In case you missed it, we had a positive outcome from the Inquiry into renewable and affordable energy for apartments, which took on many of HAAG's recommendations. Thanks to all the members who've helped making submissions and influencing governments to make change!

Deferred Management Fees (DMFs) are common in many residential parks, but recent VCAT and Supreme Court decisions could mean big changes to the ways they are charged across Victoria.

This may have an impact on you if you’ve either paid a DMF in a residential park, or have a contract that requires you to pay one when you leave. Some parks are also offering to amend residents’ leases to ensure exit fees are lawful.
