Our region is full of amazing geology, rich culture, and deep Bindjareb history — and at our recent Rotary evening, we were reminded just how special it is.
We were lucky to hear from Allan Briggs, President of Geoparks WA, who shared his vision for the Bindjareb Geopark and his hope that it will one day achieve UNESCO Global Geopark status.

It’s a big dream for our community — and one worth getting excited about.

Thank you, Allan, for sharing your passion and inspiring us all to see our region in a new light.

Meet Poppy, Pinjarra Senior High School’s new therapy puppy. Her name is more than just adorable, it carries a special meaning that connects us to the spirit of the ANZACs.

Just as the red poppy grows resiliently on battlefields and serves as a symbol of remembrance, courage, and hope, our Poppy embodies the same qualities in our school community. She reminds us every day to be brave, kind, and steadfast, and to support one another through challenges, values that honour the legacy of those who served and inspire our students to carry that spirit forward in their own lives.

Poppy is proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Pinjarra.

On 17th of May, a Time Capsule was buried at Rotary Park Pinjarra. The site will be marked by a large rock, which will bear a plaque indicating that the capsule is to be retrieved in the year 2050.
The Club extends its appreciation to all who have contributed items that have been placed into the capsule. A catalogue of the items has been made, and will be retained by the Shire of Murray, as well as within the Club’s records.
The contents include the past years issues of the Murray Community Newsletter, and contributions from Pinjarra Football and Netball Club, Pinjarra Cricket Club, Murray SES, Murray Music and Drama Club, Pinjarra Hockey Club, Murray Districts Rangers Soccer Club, Coolup Volunteer Bushfire Cadets, Pinjarra Bowling Club, and Pinjarra Croquet Club. The Rotary Club of Pinjarra also included items of Club memorabilia including a letter addressed to the 2050 Pinjarra Rotary Club.

The Club wants to acknowledge the assistance given to ensure this project has been completed by Lisa Ingram (Shire of Murray), Pinjarra Senior High School, Tuckey’s Mitre 10 Hardware, and members of the Rotary Club of Pinjarra. Thank you all!

The Rotary Club of Pinjarra was delighted to recognise Mr Les Giles as the Club’s 2025 Vocational Service Award Winner, in the Category: “Service Above Self”.
Les has been a very active member of the Bedingfeld Aged Care Home Board of Management for the past 28 years and has recently retired from this role. He is a licensed electrician and has been running his own business in Pinjarra. Les has applied his electrical expertise to all kinds of work around the aged care facility - both maintenance jobs and various new work. He has also provided the annual electrical tagging check for electrical equipment in the residents' rooms - both Bedingfeld and personal equipment. Les also completes the annual electrical tagging for our own Rotary Club.
Beyond Bedingfeld, Les continues to give generously of his time and skills through other community groups, including the Lions Club of Pinjarra, and the Pinjarra RSL Club. His service is
consistent, humble, and always centred on helping others.
Les was presented with a plaque, framed certif-icate and a $100 pledge was made on Les’s behalf to Pinjarra Lions Club.

Les responded and thanked the club for the award. He said he was surprised by the nomi-nation as he has enjoyed the service he has done. Les then told us a couple of stories from his time volunteering at Bendingfeld.
