Great news for those living south of Mandurah as the new Mandurah Estuary Bridge nears completion, opening to westbound traffic from tomorrow.

Eastbound traffic will remain as one lane across the old Mandurah Estuary Bridge while new asphalt is laid and other critical maintenance is undertaken, with traffic to be permanently shifted to two lanes in early March.

The $148.8 million project is jointly funded by the Albanese and Cook governments and includes upgrades to the existing path under the old bridge, a new four-metre wide path under the new westbound bridge, a universally accessible fishing platform under the new bridge, new lighting and yarning circles on the east and west foreshores.

A reminder that round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants is closing soon!

Eligible applicants can apply for RED Grants funding of up to $250,000 for individual projects in the Peel region that:
• increase or sustain jobs
• expand or diversify industry
• develop skills or capability
• increase business productivity
• attract new investment to the region.

RDA Peel is seeking applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the role of Director of Regional Development (DRD).

You will be responsible for assisting the RDA Committee to implement the organisation’s strategic vision and objectives and provide leadership and management of the Mandurah Universities Centre.

The successful candidate will have a high level of skill in economic development, using this experience to facilitate meaningful engagement across the three levels of government to ensure investments deliver better outcomes for regions.

RDA Peel - Investing in People

The Peel Community Foundation aims to inspire philanthropy within the community so anyone can contribute to meaningful projects within the Peel region. Earlier this year, RDA Peel received a grant from the Peel Community Foundation which is being used to provide one-on-one academic tutoring for students at the Universities Centre (managed by RDA Peel).

Almost 50 hours of tutoring has been provided thanks to support from the Peel Community Foundation.

A second round of grants through the Revive Live is now available for live music festivals and established live music venues to support performance opportunities and foster original contemporary music by Australian artists.

Revive Live also has a focus on activities that improve accessibility and provide participation opportunities for audiences, as well as career pathways for musicians and music workers with disability.

Are you a small or medium business? Applications are now open for the Local Capability Fund (LCF) to assist small and medium enterprises to increase their capability, capacity and competitiveness as suppliers of products, services and works to the Western Australian Government, major projects and other important markets.

The fund can be used for expenses such as:
- making improvements to internal infrastructure, plant and equipment
- training
- meeting pre-qualification requirements for supply-chain entry
- buying and upgrading essential equipment
