Voice of Grace Australia

Voice of Grace Australia VOGA is a tax-deductible charity providing finance & resources for education projects that help bring urban poor youth in the Philippines out of poverty.

We partner with Bright Lights Learning Center in Manila. In 2004, Rick & Maria Bell, and Rev. Noel & Reylita Erese (Filipino nationals), formed Voice of Grace Compassion Ministries, Inc, a Filipino registered not-for-profit organisation in order to address the educational needs of Filipino youth in poverty. The work of VOGCM quickly grew, with the formation of the Bright Lights Learning Center giv

ing youth in poverty a chance at education. Although the school began with 5 students, the student numbers in the 2017/2018 school year were over 150 in the various programs from ‘Catch-up’ education through to University. VOGCM has also developed Threads of Hope (a livelihood projects for ladies of the San Buena compound) and has a Care Centre (accommodation and foster parents provided for children at risk so that they have a safe place to stay while attending one of the Bright Lights Learning Center programs). Voice of Grace Australia was formed in February 2017 by a number of friends of Rick & Maria Bell. This was done in order to take on the task of managing Sponsorship for Bright Lights Learning Center in Manila, Philippines so that this vital work continues to impact youth in poverty. The Board of Voice of Grace Australia is:
Rev. John Coman - President
Mr Andrew Cresswell - Treasurer
Mr Danny Bakker - Secretary
Mr Rick Bell - Member
Mrs Maria Bell - Member
All members of VOGA are volunteers and any travel is self-funded so that sponsorship money goes to the students and Bright Lights. We invite you to join us in sponsoring this work which has already seen many students graduate from High School and more than 40 youth who had limited education go on to graduate from College with a Filipino degree. Tax deductibility is available for donations.

🙏✨ Prayers for a Brighter Future ✨🙏

As our students took the Alternative Learning System National Examination, we gathered together in prayer—lifting up every student, every effort, and every dream to the Lord. 💛

Behind every exam paper is a story of perseverance, sacrifice, and hope. Our students are believing for success in both the Elementary and High School examinations so they can continue their journey toward university and one day achieve the dreams placed in their hearts. 🎓🌟

During this emotional moment, many of their teachers shared heartfelt messages of encouragement—reminding the students that no matter the outcome, they should never give up. Some teachers became emotional as they spoke about the students’ hard work, growth, and potential, encouraging them to keep moving forward even if challenges or failure come along the way.

At Bright Lights, we believe that every setback can become a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

Please continue to pray with us for wisdom, strength, peace, and victorious results for every student. Their journey is only beginning. 💫

💛 Meet Ate Joy Gumonay 💛

For many years, Ate Joy has faithfully served as the cook at Bright Lights School—preparing meals with love and care for our students every single day. But for her, it’s more than just cooking food. It’s about making every child feel seen, cared for, and at home.

As Ate Joy shares:
“Most of our students don't have a house that serves them food, or a mother to take care of them. I see it as an opportunity to provide them with not just nutritious food, but also a sense of home and belonging.”

Her kindness reminds us that sometimes the simplest acts of love can make the biggest difference in a child’s life. 🌟

Thank you, Ate Joy, for nourishing both hearts and lives at Bright Lights. 🍲✨

✨ Change a Life Through Education ✨

This month, in preparation for the new school year, our teachers at Bright Lights are actively reaching out to and interviewing out-of-school youth in the community—giving them a second chance to learn through the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

There are so many students waiting for hope, opportunity, and a brighter future. 💛

With more sponsors and partners, we can open new school branches and extend our mission to even more communities in need. Your support can help provide education, encouragement, and a pathway toward a better life.

Together, we can help more young people dream again.
