Usually on the 3rd Friday of the month U3A has a presentation at Murray House in Pinjarra. Unfortuneatly due to circumstances our speaker is unable to proceed with the talk. It is unforntuneate that we have to cancel, as this would have been our last presentation there. We thank Murray House for welcoming us over the years. However we do have great presentations in Mandurah. Come along, say hello.

To start our June programme. Yesterday Geoff showed the 2nd instalment of a fabulous series. Broadway the Musical. A very appreciative audience listening to some great music and enjoyed hearing the stories of the musicals, their composers and producers and how the shows came together and even how musical partnerships came together. eg: Rogers & Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe etc. No photo's we were too busy enjoying.

This week was a team work week. Two of our U3A family were unable to do their scheduled presentations. So two other members put their hands up to help out. Wednesday: Stephen presented a slide show of his trip over the Nullarbor and into Queensland.
Thursday: Bob showed us ALL of the sites in Australia that were bombed in WW2.
He also told us of a hidden/secret airfield Corunna Downs.

Yesterday in Pinjarra Rosemary Livissanos presented a talk on Bahasa Indonesian.She started with some facts; there are 17 K islands in Indonesia and 711 languages. Bahasa has been established to bridge the many dialects. Rosemary introduced us to some of the words and how they are used.

On Thursday Ian Stann presented a talk on Nuclear energy and compared it to Renewables and Fossil fuels. Ian showed how nuclear power has much higher power than the other options. He also explained that the most recent nuclear power units are much smaller than earlier power stations. By using several small units the need for large transmission lines can be avoided.
