Our OMI Leadership and Arts Program participants explored their creative side during an Abstract Art workshop led by local artist Ash Morgan.

Through colour, imagination and self-expression, participants were encouraged to think outside the box, build confidence and discover that, just like leadership, creativity is about finding your own voice and having the courage to express it!

Thank you to the talented .arts for an inspirational session!

The OMI Leadership and Arts Program runs 1 to 2 times a month on Mondays after school at Mirrabooka. Contact ERCWA on 9440 0625 for more information.

Our Women on Wednesday (WOW) participants certainly WOWED WA Footy! 🏉

After expressing an interest in learning more about Aussie Rules, our WOW participants wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity to develop their footy skills, bringing plenty of enthusiasm and competitive spirit to the field!

As you can see, there were plenty of footies flying around, but even more smiles!

A big thank you to WA Footy for getting our women involved and making the session such a fun experience! ❤️ With their newfound skills, our WOW group are now eagerly awaiting a call from the AFLW! 😄

💛 Today, Thursday 10 September, is R U OK? Day. But checking in with someone doesn’t have to happen just once a year.

If a friend, family member, classmate or someone you know seems a little different, quieter than usual or is going through a tough time, trust your instinct and ask: “Are you OK?”

You don’t need to have all the answers. Sometimes simply listening, showing you care and being there without judgement can make a real difference.

Research from R U OK? shows that 9 in 10 people who were asked “Are you OK?” felt grateful, cared for and supported.

So if someone is on your mind, reach out. 💬 If you’re thinking it, ask R U OK? Any Day.

A strong start to our Empower Me Leadership Program! 🌟

Our first session was all about exploring what it means to be a leader — and discovering that leadership can show up in many different ways.

Led by Mal from Teamworks Development Australia (TDA), participants took part in activities and discussions designed to get them thinking, sharing ideas and working as a team. It was a great opportunity to build confidence, meet new people and begin developing skills they can use at school, at home and in the community.

Our FREE monthly Leadership Program is open to young people aged 10–17 and runs on the last Tuesday of every month, from 4–6pm at Sudbury Community House.

📅 Next session: Tuesday 29 September

Each month will bring something new, with different facilitators helping participants build skills, try new things and grow their confidence.

Interested in joining us? Contact Justine at ERCWA on 9440 0625.

🏉 Coaches became the students!

Our Youth Team recently swapped the sidelines for the training field, taking part in a footy coaching development session with WA Footy to build their skills, learn new techniques and pick up fresh ideas to take back into their programs.

It was a great reminder that there’s always something new to learn — and that stepping outside our comfort zone can help us grow, build confidence and be more open to new experiences.
