♻️ What if avoiding landfill could actually save money?

A WA wind farm decommissioning project came in around $1 million cheaper by reusing turbines and materials instead of sending them to landfill.

It’s a great reminder that recycling and reusing isn’t just better for the environment, it can also reduce costs.

♻️ Old tyres piling up? There’s a better way!

A WA facility is giving used tyres a second life instead of sending them to landfill, and there’s a push for mine sites to follow suit.

Tyres can be repurposed into useful materials, helping cut waste and support a more circular economy right here in WA.

🚫 Meet the “franken‑can” … and yep, it’s as bad as it sounds 😬

This plastic + metal mash‑up has just been crowned Australia’s worst packaging at the Unpackit Awards. Why? Because it’s basically designed to fail recycling.

It’s made from mixed materials, isn’t accepted in container refund schemes, and is tricky (if not impossible) to recycle properly.

The good news?
👍 It’s already banned in WA under our plastics rules.

So if you spot one elsewhere, just know… that’s a hard no from us.
