Vale Tim Ord

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our colleague Tim Ord on 20 July 2026.

Tim joined our organisation in February 2017 and served with dedication for 10 years, including his role as Vice Commander from August 2022 to August 2023.

His commitment to our operations and to the safety of our community was unwavering.

Tim was a valued member of our group and will be remembered for his dedication, friendship, and the positive impact he had on those around him. His contribution and presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Our thoughts are with Tim’s family as they navigate this difficult time. His service and legacy will always be. Tim’s funeral will be held on:

📅 30 July 2026
📍 Pinnaroo Cemetery
⏰ 12:30pm

Rest in peace our dear friend..

We see lots of people not wearing lifejackets on the water especially with children.
Its now law that kids must wear lifejackets check specific laws and how they relate to you.
We are volunteers We are not law enforcement but we can and do "promote and advise" and we see DOT are out a lot enforcing.
As for ourselves we always wear lifejackets its group rules we wear them on our boats. Many a volunteer has finished their shift and started to leave the realised they need to unlock the boat and take off their lifejackets it becomes 2nd nature and part of you when you get used to it.

There is no time when bad things happen to put them on, and they can happen in an instant. Over the years we've met and rescued people who told us their experiences which bear out this point.... wear your lifejacket!

I love this sea shanty version of "drunken sailor" DOT posted....
