One of the women in Survivor School recently got a job.

We were all excited for her, but what stuck with us most wasn’t the job itself.

It was the message she sent afterwards.

“Thanks so much for practising with me before the interview. They asked pretty much exactly what we practised and I don’t think I would’ve gotten the job without you.”

Reading that reminded us how much courage it takes to start again.

The interview was only an hour, but her commitment to rebuilding her life took much longer.

That’s why we do what we do.
Seeing someone start to believe in themselves again never gets old.

If you’d like to help create more moments like this, we’ve put a link in our bio to help you support survivors and our work. 💟

Today, 138 million children are still in child labour. 🟥 That’s nearly 1 in 12.

This World Day Against Child Labour, the global call is simple: “Fair play for children, decent work for adults.” And while the big change has to come from governments and companies, there’s a quieter truth worth sitting with — child labour turns up in the everyday stuff in our own homes. Our coffee. Our phones. Our makeup. Our clothes.

I feel deeply honoured to receive an OAM for service to the community, particularly to survivors of modern slavery.

While this recognition has my name on it, the work has never been mine alone. It belongs to the courageous survivors who continue to rebuild their lives, and to the staff, volunteers, supporters and partners who walk alongside them.

I hope this honour helps shine a brighter light on modern slavery in Australia and encourages more people to join us in supporting survivors as they rebuild their lives.

Now this is a telling stat from our partners and

70% of consumers prefer brands that pair social impact with excellence.
> That is huge!

I (Sally Irwin) remember 12years ago thinking how can I create a business that does good, helping others and lifting human rights values. It was difficult for people to grasp and I thought it would take at least 20years or more.

This very new concept back then, is now at 70%.

Great news!

We are now mid fitting out a new flagship ‘business for good’ space in Sydney to help the 70% learn more about brands that “pair social commitment with functional excellence”. ALL the brands in this space are putting people ahead of profit, so this is worth getting behind.

If you are one of the 70% of CONSUMERS, follow our page to stay up to date for our opening. Save this post to come back to in two months when we open.

If you are one of the BRANDS that want to join our flagship offering, be it with a pop up store, a workshop, or become a supplier, send us a DM for an EOI.

If you want to be one of our FOUNDING investors into the future of ‘business for good’ and have your name or company listed on our in store board, shouting your values and aligning with a legacy for the future; jump on this link to find out more:

EOFY giving that strengthens your reporting and your culture.

If your business donates from a business budget, it can support:

* A clear signal of company values to stakeholders
* Practical evidence for social impact and modern slavery-related reporting
* A meaningful conversation internally about ethical leadership

TFH also trains businesses to go beyond compliance. In 2025, TFH trained 27 corporations and reached 16,143 people with modern slavery awareness and capability-building.

People with lived experience don’t just have stories. They have expertise.

This week we saw that expertise in action.

A survivor advisor challenged assumptions that seemed perfectly reasonable on paper.

But those assumptions would have created barriers for the very people the policy was designed to support.

That is why survivor-informed guidance matters.

Not because it is the right thing to do.

Because it produces better decisions.

People who have experienced exploitation often understand risks, barriers and unintended consequences that others cannot see.

If we want better outcomes, we need more than consultation.

We need meaningful participation.

How does your organisation ensure lived experience influences decision-making?

Partner with survivor voices to transform your ethical business strategy. Move beyond compliance to create a real impact. Find out more.

The moment businesses realise compliance isn’t enough…

There’s a moment when the room goes quiet.

It happens when a leader realises that reporting can be polished while people still get hurt. Many companies are working hard on statements, supplier questionnaires, and training completion rates. Yet modern slavery thrives in gaps between what we say and what we check.

Our TFH insider view is this.
‘Compliance can shape intent, yet it rarely shifts power on its own. Real change shows up when companies make decisions that protect people, even when it costs time or money.’

Globally, 50 million people were estimated to be living in modern slavery in 2021. That number tells us the problem is bigger than disclosure.

In Australia, debate has grown about whether reporting-only models drive enough change, with ongoing calls for stronger accountability.

👉 Put one human rights metric into a leader’s performance goals. Make it about outcomes, such as worker voice coverage in high-risk categories.
👉 Fund one deeper supplier partnership in a high-risk area. Longer contracts, stable forecasting, and shared training can reduce pressure that pushes exploitation underground.

If you want to be the leader people trust, go past the minimum and build proof in the way you buy, hire, and respond. Save this, share it with a values-led leader, and your thoughts to this discussion: what would “enough” look like in your business this year? If you want to talk through a practical next step, DM us.
