What a way to spend a part of the school holidays!

Our cadets headed up to Brisbane Airport for a behind-the-scenes tour, joined by fellow members from Coolangatta Tweed, Forest Lake and Strathpine squadrons.

Cadets toured the airport facilities, explored the museum exhibits, and spent some time planespotting from the newly constructed viewing platform. It was a fantastic day of learning, aviation history, and plenty of excitement every time an aircraft took off!

A big thank you to Brisbane Airport for hosting us, and to our neighbouring squadrons for making it a great day out together!

Our cadets had an absolutely fantastic time at this year's Group Review! From giving their all in the competitions to swapping stories with cadets from other squadrons, it was a brilliant showcase of teamwork, skill, and Australian Air League spirit.

A huge congratulations to all our cadets who took part — your dedication and enthusiasm made the Squadron proud! Thank you also to the families, officers, and volunteers who helped make it such a memorable event.

Onwards to the next adventure!

The Pacific Airshow 2026 may be over but the memories will remain firmly etched in the minds our squadron cadets, who had a such fantastic time over the three action-packed days.

One of the highlights was getting the opportunity to visit the Air Gold Coast hangar, along with members from Coolangatta and Brisbane-based squadrons, to see the planes up close, meet the fantastic people behind the scenes, and watch the pilots take off and land.

A huge thank you once again to everyone involved!

Our cadets had a fantastic evening at the Southport Flying Club on Friday, getting up close to the Nanchang CJ6A and YAK52 aircraft of the Red Star Roolettes display team and the BO-105 aerobatic helicopter, who are in town for the Pacific Airshow.

To top off the night, cadets also had the opportunity to meet the POLAIR Queensland crew, who generously gave their time to talk about POLAIR operations and answer plenty of questions.

A huge thank you to Friends of Southport Flying Club and Queensland Police Service for giving our cadets another memorable aviation experience!

Some of our cadets, joined by fellow members from Brisbane and Coolangatta, had a fantastic day at the Pacific Airshow’s inaugural Students With Altitude Day at Surfers Paradise.

They heard presentations from organisations including Aviation Australia, Australian Space Agency, Roo-ver, Australian Defence Force and Gilmour Space Technologies, learning about exciting opportunities in aviation, space and STEM.

They also managed to catch plenty of the thrilling aerobatic action in the skies above Surfers Paradise!

A big thank you to Pacific Airshow and everyone involved in Students With Altitude for providing such an inspiring experience for the next generation of aviation and aerospace enthusiasts.

We ordered a parade night. POLAIR delivered an impromptu air show! What a treat for our cadets 🚁

A huge thank you to the Southport Flying Club for hosting our cadets for a very special parade night last week!

Our cadets had a wonderful evening learning about the club's history and its meaningful involvement with Angel Flight from club president Craig Hobart, as well as gaining insight into general aviation operations around the Gold Coast.

The night's highlights were hard to top — a POLAIR helicopter flyby had everyone buzzing, and the cadets loved getting up close to inspect a Cessna 337 Skymaster. To top it all off, each cadet went home with a framed aircraft photo, generously donated by club members — a keepsake they'll treasure.

Evenings like this remind our cadets why they love aviation. Thank you to Craig and all at the Southport Flying Club for your warmth, generosity, and time.
