Our cadets got their hands a little dirty last week, building kites as part of our preparations for this year's Group Review!

It was a fantastic activity that brought out some serious concentration — and maybe a little friendly competition over whose kite looked the best! 😄

Our cadets had an incredible time last week as we reassembled and tested our flight simulator!

From take-off to landing, the experience gave cadets a fun and educational opportunity to get behind the flight controls, build confidence, and develop their aviation knowledge in a hands-on environment.

It was a fantastic effort by everyone involved in getting the simulator back up and running—and we can’t wait for the next flight session!

It was truly an honour for Gold Coast Squadron to participate in this year’s Anzac Day commemorations at Nerang RSL & Memorial Club.

The squadron was proud to stand alongside the community in remembering and paying tribute to the service and sacrifice of our defence forces personnel, past and present.

The squadron was proud to attend the Veteran’s Breakfast event hosted by the Southport Flying Club today.

This year’s event was especially meaningful, as it coincided with the unveiling of a memorial dedicated to honouring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Our cadets were deeply honoured to be part of such an important ceremony.

To cap off an incredible morning, our cadets were given the amazing opportunity to view the various aircraft at the airfield and even go on joy flights aboard a Cessna Caravan and a 206 Longranger helicopter—an experience they will surely not forget anytime soon!

A big thank you to the Southport Flying Club for the kind invitation. We are truly grateful to have been included in such a special occasion!

Term 1 wrapped up with a fun and educational activity as our cadets took to the skies—this time with chuck gliders!

As part of earning the Aircraft Modelling badge, cadets had a go at building their own gliders using balsa wood, putting their knowledge and skills into action. It was fantastic to see the effort and attention to detail that went into each build.

Well done to all cadets for a great start to the year—we’re excited to see what the next term brings!

Our cadets had a real treat at the last parade night!

A big thank you to Shaun Brown from the Loganholme Aeromodellers Radio Control Society for generously giving his time to introduce the squadron to the fascinating world of remote control aero modelling.

Cadets were enthralled by Shaun’s talk and loved the opportunity to get up close to several of the impressive models he brought along. It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience and a great insight into the skill and passion behind aeromodelling.
